I got a lot of good finds this past week so I decided I'd finally make a thread to document them. Also if anyone really really wants any of the dolls I picked up, I may be willing to sell (unboxed) for the price I paid + shipping. I get the dolls to repaint later, so I'd feel bad if I wiped a doll someone's been searching for!

First off, tonight!

All for $9 each! I'm glad I found a sale Lorna, and this is the first I've seen a Haunted doll in store, much less two! WalMart also had Posea and Kala for $13 each, but I got some from a friend with a 5 Below near her. Now if Peri and Pearl were in there…

Feb 28/March 1 - Hit up a few Tuesday Morning stores
Brand Boo Students, two of each Batsy, Isi, and Kjersti, $10 each (probably my favorite line, I can't resist them!)
Great Scarrier Reef Toralei and Lagoona, $8 each
Gloom Beach Clawdeen, $8 (two more for $5 each at a WalMart)
Monstrous Rivals Draculaura and Moanica, $15
Ghoul's Beast Pet Lagoona, $8

And due to my lack of restraint, I'm likely heading back to grab the Frightfully Tall Clawdeen they had for $15 (Edit 3/6: I bought it).  The main tall doll I'm waiting for is the Shriekwrecked Gooliope, but TRU still has it full price. All the dolls aside from MH seemed to be on clearance.

However, I found a $10 Freak du Chic Gooliope hiding at another WalMart, that was an exciting find! Certainly made up for not finding a good deal on the other one.

And though it was quite some time ago, I'd say some of my most exciting finds were $4 BYBY Operetta and $8 Scarnival Skelita. Love both of them!

None of my friends really care so I've always had to contain my excitement. No more!

Catrine's Art Studio / Offering traditional OC art
« on: March 05, 2017, 03:30:10 PM »
Work has some slow periods and in an effort to get me out of my art slump, I'd like to offer art of any Monster High OCs you have. It won't necessarily be a style emulation, so if you're looking for art that resembles official art, I probably won't be able to help you there.

Post your refs and a bit about your character, unfortunately no guarantees I'll draw for everyone that posts, but I'll see what I can do <3

Customs / Gauging doll ears
« on: March 05, 2017, 02:27:04 AM »
Mostly inspired by this lovely doll
I'm interested in adding piercings to my future customs, and though I've read up on how to do standard piercings in the face, adding gauges or plugs seems a little trickier. Has anyone here attempted this before and if so what did you use to add more "skin" to the ears? Ideally I'd like to get a pretty seamless look for any doll I try this on, and considering the variation in skin tones, I'd also be looking for tips on color matching.

Additionally, I feel like I've seen dolls with sternum piercings, I'd assume that's done with the same method as any facial piercings? I know the plastic is different so I just want to ensure the process is the same. Thanks in advance!

Customs / Purchasing MSC in Europe
« on: March 02, 2017, 05:42:56 PM »
So quite some time ago, I bought MSC for repaint work, however I never actually got around to doing any before my visa was approved. I'm going to be moving overseas and it's not likely I'll be shipping anything via an actual ship and storage container, so I cannot bring my MSC with me, even in a checked bag, due to its flammable nature. I also am too busy with the move to do any customs and use it all before moving, which bums me out since it's completely unused. However, I will need to repurchase it once I get settled in Sweden, and was hoping someone could provide recommendations on where to purchase it, as it seems to not be available for international shipping wherever I've looked. Thanks in advance!

Introductions! / New to everything!
« on: February 22, 2017, 11:42:40 PM »
Hi there! Call me Simply! I figured it would be a good idea to register for the site instead of lurking forever, so here I am! I'm not so great at the introductions, so I'll just go off the one given in the sticky.

I'm 25 years old and born and raised in California, though as of last November, my visa to move to Sweden to live with my fiancé is approved, so I'm slowly but surely working on the move. Currently I volunteer as a moderator for another site and I work in tech support for security cameras, thermostats, and smoke detectors, though once I move and finish my language courses, I'd like to go back to school (I have an AS in Sociology). As of right now, friends and family are the most important people in my life, and that includes pets! I have two cats of my own (black girl named Pandora and black and white mediumhaired boy named Faust), my mom has two Papillons (Dangle and Trixie), and my dad has a black lab (Max). Love them all to death.

As far as dolls go, I'm pretty new to collecting. The woman who lives with my grandpa would collect Barbies and gift me some of the collector ones (I have Legally Blonde, See's Candies, Swan Lake, and Hollywood Premiere), and when I was getting rid of my childhood toys, I couldn't let go of my Generation Girls Mariko doll, however I never considered myself a collector. Last summer, I saw some repaints and thought they were gorgeous, and being in a bit of an art slump and only really liking to draw faces anyways, I thought it would be a perfect hobby to pick up. A good time too, since Target had a huge selection of clearance and I rarely paid over $8 for a doll. Unfortunately, life has had ups and downs since, so while I have the materials and I've had some practice with removing faces and hair, I have not yet done a repaint. Currently have a wiped Lagoona (Dance Class if I remember correctly), and I removed the hair from a Mouscedes and Avea for a friend (she loves the centaur BJDs but couldn't afford them, and wants to mod Mouscedes into a bear since she's a fan of Monokuma).

I love the Monster High dolls, I've always been a fan of creepy things, and the fact that the dolls have such different face molds intrigued me - it was a perfect match! They're all so gorgeous! My collection is a bit out of control since I wanted to have plenty of dolls to experiment with, it's probably in the 200-300 range! I couldn't pick a favorite, but whenever I see a Ghoulia, Catrine, Skelita, Operetta, or Peri and Pearl, I won't hesitate to snatch it up (fingers crossed for more Ghoulias, they can't get rid of her!). Admittedly not a fan of the reboot faces, but I have plenty of the original dolls to last me a while!

That went a lot longer than I expected, but feel free to ask me any questions! I'm flying to Colorado for a week trip with my friends (even doing a doll exchange with the one mentioned above; she snatched up Posea and Kala at Five Below for me!) so it may be a while before I can respond again. Looking forward to being a member of this community!
