Off Topic / Extreme emotions mean everything is a roller coaster
« on: May 15, 2017, 04:40:17 AM »
People are stressful, like, I know, understatement of the century, but even online when they are more easily dealt with, to me anyway, there are some people that just find the right thing to say or do just to make you feel like crap. I can't stand it whenever anyone else tries to shame or guilt others for liking X thing, and it makes me very angry at first, and then I just fall into a depression for the rest of the day where everything feels like a chore. It's mentally draining and discussing it only helps so much, time heals all wounds, right? It's even worse when it's teens doing it, like, I'm 23, I've been online since I was like 8, I've seen it all, for good or for bad, I've been through my "I'm so much smarter than everyone else" phase and survived, I don't like a 16 year old telling me what I should do and how I am wrong.

In theory, it should be easy to just ignore it and not let it get to me, but as much I try to hold a tough facade, the little things do get to me, and they ruin any good mood I may have had the rest of the day, I just wanted to mope and cry and, for lack of a better term, just be all emo about it. But, I was nice, I didn't say anything mean to them, I didn't 'expose' them or anything, I apologized and I had to move on and block them, and I hate doing that to anyone, but some people don't get the message, and If I hadn't, I'd have probably lost my patience pretty soon. So, why do I care? Some high and mighty teen doesn't appreciate what I like, big deal, it's really not. But that doesn't mean I don't still get affected to the point where I get too paranoid to talk to anyone else there the rest of the day, any message now could be a legion of people against me, it could happen, Tumblr can get pretty bad, as could any social media, really.

I just get sick of being so emotionally affected by tiny things, I'm sure literally no one else knows this happened and doesn't care, online, it's common for people to bash others for different interest, that will never change, but, why? Why do people do this? It terrifies me so much when I share interest and those interests get bashed, so I keep them private usually, I keep it all to myself, and one of few times I lay it all out there for people to see, even in a slightly out of the way place, the first person to see it found problems with it and tried to harass me for it, making me wish I had never done that in the first place and kept it to myself, as usual, so no one would get mad at me.

Run on sentences, anyway, basically, one jerk ruined my whole day and while I'm going to sleep after this mini vent post, sleep and appetite are very quickly killed when I get depressed, same for drive to do ANYTHING fun but mindlessly watch Youtube. People are tiring and wish there weren't so many out there to hate on others' interests, I'm harmless.

Vague title, I know, but I have an ambitious idea for commissioning a set of 4 custom dolls made from a big of MH and EAH and/or more parts (if you must know, preferably MH male bodies and other heads) and was wondering if anyone out there does projects like that.

Gosh, this sounds so weird as I don't know how to explain it.

Monster Discussion / Dawn of the Dance Draculaura
« on: July 20, 2015, 09:47:52 PM »
As a Draculaura collector, and the fact that I'll need her for my collection eventually, I'm curious why she seems to be so rare, expensive. I saw a perfect condition one pop up on eBay earlier and she was listed as if she's a super rare and hard to find doll, and already got over a dozen bids, what. I only look at checklists and stock images generally when seeing what dolls I need, but I never would have expected DOTD Draculaura to be one of those nigh-unobtainable dolls...considering I don't even like her outfit that much.

So, seriously, is she rare? Why? Was she like super store exclusive? Poor distribution? Too early in the line?

Rules & Regs! / Name change request
« on: July 20, 2015, 02:28:29 PM »
Could I have a name change to 'LightningBolt' please? This name is old and obsolete and I just haven't gotten around to requesting a change yet. Thanks in advance.

Monster Discussion / Chocolate Gargoyle
« on: June 27, 2015, 02:24:15 PM »
Allow me to be silly for a moment.
I remember when Sig Rochelle was first coming out, I was just barely getting into MH at the time, and it was collector's photos of her that made me love her, and want her badly, one of those reasons was that her body flecking combined with the light grey made me think of...Hershey's Cookies & Cream chocolate bars; and to be honest, that was one reason I really wanted her, and to this day she still makes me think of chocolate.
Garrot does not though, and that saddens me. >:c

Have some stock images for context (Swim Rochelle used as Sig Rochelle's stock image does not show flecking)

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I can't be the only one who ever thought this right?

Draculaura's Darkroom / Show off your alt rehairs
« on: June 17, 2015, 12:01:35 AM »
I did not see a thread for this, and if there is one, it's probably quite old by now! I'm quite surprised honestly, which makes me think I am just blind.

Show off alternate rehairs of any sort, MH and EAH both, they can be full customs, but preferably just rehairs. I just ordered several hanks of hair off two websites, new needles, and glue so I can get to work on rehairing a few dolls I have plans for sooner rather than later!

Monster Discussion / Gloom & Bloom Jinafire and Cleo
« on: June 07, 2015, 04:27:01 PM »
Is there anyway to get either of these two online without paying outrageous eBay prices? They're Target exclusives, and yet Target doesn't sell them from the website (at least not Jinafire) and it's difficult to get to a Target store for me. Their website has Just Sweet Blondie for sale, right? Why not these two? I've been checking the website every day for the past week to see if they finally decide to let me buy Jinafire, but no such luck, maybe I just have bad timing? On eBay, I never see her for under $40, which is ridiculous, ugh. Did she just instantly go out of stock and never came back IN stock? Or is it like Amazon where I need to be really quick to grab her?

Monster Discussion / Bangs, and how to make them look good
« on: June 03, 2015, 04:49:10 PM »
I like making threads today because I have questions to ask.
I have no idea where this belongs, but how, just how does anyone make the bangs on their dolls look good when all the original styling product is washed/brushed out, either intentionally or accidentally. Just very careful boil styling? Some other sort of goop to keep them from moving? It just bugs me so much to see them fan out without any product and leave a small gap in the middle of the bangs, I don't like how it looks and I wish I never washed out the styling product years ago. I tried just letting conditioner harden, but it's not the same, boil styling always makes them too flat, and I read how some use watered down white glue, but if it can yellow, what's the point? I know I'm crazy, but I'm sure some of you are too, and might have an answer.  ^^;

Edit: And no, "getting rid of them" is not an answer, I like bangs on my dolls and I wouldn't be asking this if I didn't.

Monster Discussion / So where did it change from elastic to plastic?
« on: June 03, 2015, 04:32:21 PM »
I'm talking about hip joints, naturally. I always read that the Plastic hit joints started being used with Signature Toralei in late 2011, but It has to be complicated than that. I swore I also read that some early Skull Shores dolls still had elastic, and to further complicate things, I have two Sweet 1600 Draculauras, (both original release as they have tinsel hair) but one has elastic hip joints, while the other has plastic. Is there like a compiled list out there of dolls that definitely have elastic hips, and those that can, but don't necessarily always? Or is this just something no one really cares about? :P

Customs / Hair blending, how easy is it by hand?
« on: May 31, 2015, 05:11:45 PM »
So I finally decided that to fall in love with my Dance Class Howleen completely, I want to rehair her in a blend of Black and Pink saran (think like Elissabat's colors but with pink instead of purple) and stick her in a dark, gothic outfit. Problem is, Dollyhair is still sold out of Raven Black and I don't know very much about other doll hair retailers or if they can do hair blends. How easy/hard is to do it by hand? Or does anyone just so happen to have a mix of Raven Black and Sherbet Pink Saran?

I COULD always use Nylon, but I'm picky and only want to use Saran for my dolls, Nylon is for ponies. Also, are they any other saran colors closer to Howleen's Kanekalon pink, as I really don't like messing with kanekalon at all, it always gets so messy and sticks to my fingernails.

While I'm at it, what other doll hair websites do you guys commonly use, can they do blends, and do they have any darker pink saran colors?

Edit: I'm pretty dumb, Retrodolls has pretty much the exact hair color I am looking for, and some others that are sold out that I find pretty too.

Monster Discussion / I <3 Fashion way overpriced online
« on: May 28, 2015, 03:07:53 PM »
Am I just crazy, or are all I <3 Fashion Dolls on eBay, etc, waaay more expensive than the original price. Wynowna is the one one instock on TRU for me and she's no more than $30 with shipping, which is fair, but Clawdeen, Venus, Cleo, the rest seem to usually be well over $40, only Scarah is cheaper than her original price, which is silly. Why are they so overpriced? Not many other dolls from the same years are as overpriced from what I've seen, and it's easy to find most 2012/2013/2014 MH dolls for cheaper than retail on eBay, just not I <3 Fashion.

Does anyone still have any of these left at their local TRU, or otherwise and would be willing to sell them for retail and not crazy overpriced? It's just rediculous for them to be selling for $40+ commonly. I know Venus and Cleo were poorly distributed, but I don't think the rest were if Scarah is cheap and Wynowna is still in stock.

Brags / Doll splurging
« on: May 25, 2015, 05:08:10 PM »
I keep thinking I need photos to post in here but I don't.

I splurged on lots of MH dolls in the past week or so, from various arena members and eBay, and a couple from walmart, most were for less than full price. I figured I'd make a list here more for my own benefit of remembering what I got, in no particular order. They all have everything unless otherwise stated.

FCA Viperine
Original Ghouls Cleo
Signature Venus (missing only one gree hoop earring, doesn't bother me)
13 Wishes Clawdeen
Little Dead Riding Hood
Signature Howleen (redressed and restyled)
Black Carpet Clawdeen
Picture Day Draculaura
Scaris Jinafire
Sweet 1600 Clawdeen (original release, only purse)
Sweet 1600 Draculaura (original relase with accesories)
Ghoul Fair Elissabat
Ghouls Rule Clawdeen
FCA Clawdia
New Scaremester Twyla
Art Class Skelita
BC Lagoona
And EAH Through the Woods Blondie to complete my set of that
Plus several stands, and a CAM Werewolf.

Can you tell I like the werewolves and vampires?

Only Venus has arrived so far, stupid Sundays and holidays making mail slow!

...And I have bids on several more dolls too so I'll see how that goes! Phew, once those end and I pay for the dolls I have on hold from a couple people here I should take a small break (unlikely). ^^;

I feel like I am missing one or two...

Draculaura's Darkroom / Show me Howleen, restyled and redressed
« on: May 24, 2015, 06:54:01 PM »
I have a Dance Class Howleen that I want to love like I do most of her other dolls. I don't like her outfit or hair very much, and I would like to see what other people have done with Howleens, restyling, redressing, or even rerooting! Preferably no repainting or stock Howleens, but I wouldn't mind seeing those either! I just want some inspiration to fall in love with my DC Howleen like I have with the rest, and I have seen some amazing redressed and restyled Howleens before!

Monster Discussion / Hair fibers
« on: May 16, 2015, 11:49:57 PM »
Since I am a big nerd, and doll hair is an interesting subject to me, I decided to make this topic.
Now, thanks to Ravie's amazing color-matching hair threads, It's easly known what hair fibers each character has, however, this isn't always consistant... Draculaura, for example, usually has Saran black hair and Kanekalon pink streaks, most of my dolls of her have hair like this, most. Monster Exchange Draculaura has lighter pink in her hair, and it is Saran as her black is the saem saran as usual; while Die-ner Draculaura is the opposite, her pink is the same as usual, while her black is Kanekalon instead of Saran. From a distance you can't SEE a difference, but right after taking her out of the box I noticed it felt like Kanekalon, and it definately is.

So, am I just crazy (very likely) or do some random dolls have hair that is a different fiber than what they usually have? It has me curious, considering Clawdeen has had many difefrent hair colors, odds are that she had other fibers at one point too, right?

Monster Discussion / Playset seating options
« on: April 30, 2015, 05:10:45 PM »
So after getting the 2012 Coffin Bean playset today (admittedly half is because of the awesome sofa and chair, and the other half is because of Clawdeen) I'm really itching for more amazing seating options in playsets. My eyes are on the Die-ner next, bonus that it comes with another doll I like, so it has me curious how many playsets have really nice seating options, chairs, sofas, etc, and just looking at stock photos is never 100% true to real life, so I'm curious to see some in more detail.

I also have the EAH Hat-Tastic Tea Party playset too, which has it's own nice chair.

I'm always surprised by the size of these accessories and furniture pieces, they all seem smaller in pictures to me, maybe because I'm just so used to the size of MLP accessories, which are smaller due to ponies being smaller than dolls.

tl;dr Show me your playset chairs and stuff. (Does this belong here in this case then, or the Darkroom?)

Monster Discussion / Silly, uncommon things with dolls you enjoy/do
« on: April 28, 2015, 07:00:55 PM »
A silly thread, similar to 'dolls you like but no one else does' etc, but with parts of dolls or experiences instead.

For example, I absolutely adore box hair in every doll and I preserve it as much as possible all the time, and I don't just mean the style, I mean the hardened styling gel keeping everything in place, the rubber bands or thread to hold in accessories or such, the feel, the commonly matted down and flattened down hair just from being in a box, it never bothers me to see the doll's hair messy out of box; it does bother me, however, if a rubber band, thread or too much gel is lost/removed from the hair though! I know it's silly, but I enjoy it.

As for a thing will dolls I do, I paint all the nails of my MH (never EAH) dolls that have pointed nails/claws (and my elissabat) in a color that complements their outfit (with nail polish too, which may be bad, but I don't personally care). They just look so odd to me without painted nails, and it looks especially amazing on Abbey, Marisol or Jinafire who have huge claw fingernails. I wish I hadn't given my Sig Abbey black nails though, as over 3 years later, it refuses to come off due to her glitter, whoops, I would have prefered a nice blue or pink more, oh well.

Wanted dolls in no particular order some order: (Preferably MiB or fresh out of box as much as possible as I like to preserve box hair and presentation)

Many of these are just 'dolls I want someday but I'm not needing them right now' type deal, higher priority will go to dolls with a '*' in front of the name. Named striked out are dolls recently bought.
Double ** means really high priority.

Characters of higher priority than others (in no particular order) are Clawdeen, Howleen, Draculaura, Venus, Abbey.

Always looking for nude Howleens and Venus's of any line!

Ever After High Discussion / Legacy Day wave 2
« on: March 28, 2015, 08:44:45 PM »
Has anyone ever seen these in stores? Being older releases I'll never see them now, but still...

Ever After High Discussion / Errored Apple?
« on: March 13, 2015, 03:23:56 PM »
I got Hat-Tastic Apple a couple months ago, and I had noticed that the cuffs on her sleeves were just a plan black skinny border, and yet, every picture and review I had seen of her had a white ribbon end to the cuffs, and just today at Walmart, several Hat-Tastic Apples, all with ribbon cuffs. So is mine errored? Is it an Indonesia vs China thing? I didn't check the manufacture for the Apples I saw in-store today, but I really doubt that would be the case anyway. The possible error doesn't bother me, I just find it odd, like that part of her outfit just missed that step in manufacturing.

Monster Discussion / Is it possible to make hair softer again?
« on: March 07, 2015, 11:13:54 PM »
Is it at all possible to make dolls with dryer hair soft and silky feeling again without taking the original hairstyles down at all and messing them up? I mean, my Sig Briar and Apple's hair is fine, style is no different than out of box, but the feel of their hair is a little bit dryer and less soft feeling than before, and i's bugging me. I suppose it's not a big deal if they still look fine, but I love the softness their hair used to be, and now it's bugging me.

So what's the easiest way to get it softer again? And is it possible without mucking up the hairstyles?

[moving into General Discussion so more will see it! :) --Zombelina]
