Monster Discussion / Re: Family Sets and the Clawd/Clawdeen 2 pack

Their heads are smaller than the regular size ghouls, so you'ed end up with 'pin head syndrome'. Not a good look :P

Some people shrink heads to get them smaller, so I was thinking maybe it could still look normal, just not bobble head.

Like everyone else has said, it's all about the posing.

Has anyone tried head swapping the little sister heads onto the regular girls' body yet? Does it look good or weird?

I really want to get her and mod her. Like get rid of her gimmick but keep her wood grain texture.

Monster Discussion / Re: Do you talk to your dolls? Or am I weird?
« on: June 11, 2017, 06:16:03 PM »
I do address them on occasion.  I'll tell them they're getting dusty, or their hair is so soft, things like that.  And if something falls, not necessarily a doll but sometimes my loose ones like to take headers off the shelf, I'll just say, "Augh, Rochelle, stay put!" or something along those lines.

I'm the same way. It's not really a conversation but more like "Let's try this new dress on." or "Your shoe fell off again."

I have this problem with regular MH stands, but if I trade stand pieces I can usually find odd pairs that fit together. I'm not sure if the collector's stands are different.

Clawdeen's Closet / Re: New fabrics: prewashing, stiffening, sewing?
« on: June 01, 2017, 05:32:40 PM »
1) Do you always prewash? Or only certain fabrics? How do you decide?
Yes almost always, if it is very delicate I will hand wash it. The only thing I wouldn't wash is something that could be damaged by washing it, and that's pretty rare.

2) When prewashing washes all the sizing/stiffness out (like with cottons), do you use something to put some stiffness back, like spray starch with ironing? Is that safe to use with doll clothes on plastic dolls? I always iron my fabric after washing and I always use starch for cottons, but I don't always use it for synthetics. I've never had it effect a doll.

3) Do you use tissue paper or similar when machine sewing, so tiny bits don't go into the feed dogs? I know some people do but I personally don't. I think Solvy makes a nice water soluble material that works well in small areas. Generally my machine doesn't eat the fabric too much. Sometimes I think the foot can effect this too. I always use a clear plastic zig-zag foot.

Danbo, the eyes look even, it's the different sized pupils that look wonky. Don't you hate it when you don't see the wonk right away.

From Amazon:

Woah that's a long description. It's good that she comes with the bugs but I like the prototype bugs a little better, they were more detailed. I still want to get her, I love the tall dolls. It does appear she is covering in glitter and it mentions that in the description.

Customs / accessory painting questions
« on: May 17, 2017, 12:57:30 PM »
I want to try painting some accessories. I have a few questions if anyone can answer. If you have the brand name of the supplies you prefer, that helps also!

Do you prime the plastic with something before painting?
What medium do you use? Acrylic paints? pastels maybe?
What do you use as a final sealant?
Will the paint rub off on my doll and stain my doll?
will the paint scratch or rub off?
What types of brushes or tools do you use?
Do you have any links to share on this subject?
any other tips?

Customs / Re: Custom Heads (Just Heads)
« on: May 16, 2017, 06:53:11 AM »
I think buying just a customized head is totally fine. It's pretty normal for other doll hobbies (bjd) and I've seen some MH customizers doing it too, especially if they live somewhere that shipping is expensive.

Monster Discussion / Re: Fakies! Thread 2.0
« on: May 03, 2017, 04:02:33 AM »
That's why I hate Alibaba. There are so many interesting fakies, but with the minimum orders being anywhere from 200 to 1,000 "units" the odds of getting them are very low.  Also, ppl have had problems with suppliers taking the money and never delivering the goods.

I've been trying to find Descendants fakies on Taobao and all I come up with are the originals.

Aliexpress is supposed to be the solution for people who want small orders but they don't have exactly the same things unfortunately.

I did a quick search and found these, they must be the noodle legs.

I think River Styxx would be too purple, Kiyomi Haunterly is more blue, she could work. Even Ghoulia might look OK.

1. It makes me feel old!
3. I also feel some lovely of grumpy old man-ness with changes they make on these things. I know it's silly because of course they are going to change things, but can't help the feeling.

(shakes fist) "You kids get off my lawn!"

The ultimate Grumpy Old Man quote...   :haha:

I'm like.....back in my day Littlest Pet Shops had normal sized heads and eyes! Back in my day we had real animation, only Toy Story was CGI.

Buy/Sell/Trades / Re: BIG LOTS: Finds & Sales
« on: April 26, 2017, 04:23:46 PM »
I Found all 3 dessert-themed budget dolls at Biglots this weekend along with some electrified dolls(including silvi!) and the emoji dolls. Even a birthday ball Cupid!

I checked last week and mine had similar stock, dessert, emoji, electrified. However the prices were 10-15. Basically retail price, no deals.

In my collection some dolls stay in their stock, but a lot have mixed clothes and accessories too. I just do what I like. My storage method is also zip blogs and a little plastic sorter box I got from Ikea for the small bits. I also have some very tiny baggies like 1x2 inches that I keep earrings and such in so I don't lose them. I keep any objects I'm selling in baggies separate from my stuff.

I think you could always refer to online photos for the original stock of a doll. That's what I've done if I was confused about what belonged to whom.

Those feet look amazing!
