Monster Discussion / Re: Doll care: Tips and Tricks
« on: June 23, 2017, 11:32:35 AM »
If you need to store your dolls make sure the faces aren't touching faces, shoes aren't touching shoes, and faces aren't touching shoes. Their shoes and heads seem to be made of a similar material, which means the paint transfer very easily! This is how a lot of the dolls end up with spots on their faces, missing paint, strange spots on the shoes, etc.. Make sure you put separate dolls with a layer of plastic bags between each layer (although cloth might be better).

I don't think this is as much a problem with newer dolls (since there's no paint on the new shoes, and new shoes seem to be made of a different material), but it's better to be safe than sorry!

Yeah it was really annoying that they kept releasing pink hair versions of her. They should have stopped with the pink hair after 13 wishes (which is the only pink haired version of her that actually has nice hair).

The first version of Howleen will probably always be my favorite. It's possible that a new version could dethrone her, but I'm doubtful they would make one with long auburn hair. She's supposed to have hair that's almost as red as Operetta's hair. Well I want to see it. :)

OH! And it would be really cool if they made an SDCC version of her. Maybe a Rapunzel inspired version with hair that goes down to her feet and a really fancy dress.

It's really sad about the Fright Mares line. I thought it was well done. They are certainly a better quality than the EAH pixies and all of the gross new budget dolls with their molded on clothing. Yuck!

It would be nice if they ever got around to making doll sized (like Avea Trotter) versions of the best Fright Mares.

I hope you're right about the Mega Bloks. I'm really looking forward to the booster set. I hope it has plenty of useful bricks for building up the school.

Seems like Amazon gets all the releases, regardless of exclusivity.

Wal-Mart rarely puts exclusive on their exclusives. That's how I missed out on Haunted Rochelle.

I'm assuming the Fright Mares line has ended, since Mattel CBA to release the final two in the US (at least not to any real extent, because I had to grab them on eBay).

The Mega Bloks line has me concerned. Mainly because they haven't released Howleen yet and I really want an MB figure of her before the line dies off completely. I'm worried that it's on its way out because the new sets are getting more scattered across various stores and I had to order the Series 3 set of figures off of eBay.

So either the line has some iffy days ahead or Mattel's distribution is really, really bad. PLUS my Wal-Mart stores seem very interested in clearing out the space from Series 2 (just small sets and figures left, put 50%+ off on larger sets (Creepateria, Frankie's room), and STILL no series 3!). I'm only slightly optimistic about them getting wave/series 3 because the smaller sets and figures weren't on sale yet (at least when I was last there).

Monster Discussion / No love for Howleen?

I've noticed that Howleen isn't getting any new releases at all. No vinyl figures.
No mini-figure (those little figures in the coffins). No Mega Bloks figure.

What gives? Has Mattel decided to do a full makeover of Clawdeen's family, completely destroying her original family members in the process?

Maybe I'm in a really small minority, but Howleen has always been my favorite.
If they don't release something of her soon then I might stop buying any new MH related stuff altogether.
They've already lost money from me, as I haven't purchased any of the vinyls or minifigs because of this alone.

Thanks! Yes I have all of her releases. Seems like there's been 6 so far.
I might not have her and Cleo's creepateria two pack. It just didn't seem necessary since I already have the singles.

Monster Discussion / Re: Exclusives: Good or Bad?
« on: January 24, 2016, 12:28:30 AM »
Yeah, I kinda forgot about the Toys R Us Cleo ILF exclusive. I guess TRU has made some mistakes with exclusives too.
I tend to refuse to pay more than retail for most MH dolls, so I'm usually forced to pass on the rare ones.

Did anyone else notice the EAH Fairest on Ice series in Wal-Mart's online store? They were VERY high at first, like $35 plus,
and then later on they suddenly disappeared. I think they put them on sale for half price and one or two people ordered
them all. xP

That's another thing I don't understand. Instead of going from 100% to 90, 80, etc.. when they want to sell a doll faster, they
instantly mark it down a huge amount (50% or higher discount) and let just a few people grab them all. They should at least
have a limit per order but I would prefer they bring down the prices more slowly.
It made me really sad when 13 Wishes Howleen was on sale for $5 and I completely missed out.
I would have gladly gave $10 each. Why go down to $5?...

Monster Discussion / Exclusives: Good or Bad?
« on: January 23, 2016, 02:47:12 AM »
Sorry if you don't agree with this.. but I'd like to see an end to store exclusives. I'm not saying those dolls shouldn't exist, but rather that
all the stores should be able to sell them. At the very least Mattel's online store should also sell them. It can be very difficult to get some of the exclusives, especially when there's no nearby store and their online shop is either too expensive or garbage (Justice & K-Mart anyone?).

Even Wal-Mart's online shopping experience also leaves a little something to be desired.. considering they only had Haunted Rochelle on it for one day, and overpriced if I remember correctly. I didn't even know she was a Wal-Mart exclusive at the time. >.<
There's also the Toywiz listings. I get so tired of seeing those.. Even when I put Wal-Mart items only..
Toywiz... I hate your shop and your atrocious affiliation with Wal-Mart's shop.
The only store that seems to know how to do exclusives right is Toys R Us.
Even Target has started to disappoint. They kept Cleo and Jennafire Gloom & Bloom at full $25 retail for so long, and now they're all gone?
But.. of course they keep the listing in their store. "Only available in-store". Yeah.. not going to go on "that" 5+ hour wild goose chase.

Monster Discussion / What future MH dolls would you like to see?
« on: January 23, 2016, 02:34:45 AM »
Sorry if there is already a thread like this. Didn't see one on the front page.

What I'd like to see from MH in the future are more deluxe versions of Howleen.
There's only been two so far.
I'd also like to see her with a more natural hair color. Her diary hints that her natural hair might be red, as she commented on another monster (Operetta?) having hair that is more red than hers. Howleen's natural hair could be auburn? I'd love to have a doll of her with long auburn hair!

I wish Mattel would go back to Sweet Screams, Haunted, etc.. and do versions of other characters like Howleen in those series. It would be a perfect time to do new characters in an older series when they are doing re-releases, like the Scarily-Ever After series. Why didn't they think of that? Some new Scarily-Ever After dolls to accompany the re-release of Draculaura, Clawdeen, and Frankie would have been very nice. :D

Monster Discussion / Re: Advice for buying lots?
« on: January 23, 2016, 02:27:57 AM »
When I buy from lots on eBay I tend to value the dolls at 50 cents per intact limb, $1 for the head, and $1 per shoe and each article of clothing.
The exception to this rule are the dolls in the lot that I actually want, and I'll double the value on those. It helps a lot when you're trying to get a
specific doll but don't want to overpay for it when it's by itself.

This WILL get you a bunch of dolls you don't want though...

If you're concerned about space and don't want to take time to sell them, just take their clothes and forearms/hands and then sell the
nude, armless dolls in a big lot on eBay. You won't get as much for them, but you won't lose anything either. The value is mostly in their
arms and clothing. I know it sounds sad to do this but when you have multiples of Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, and Ghoulia that you
care nothing for (and they are broken and/or missing parts, bad hair, missing shoes or clothing, etc..) then it's the best thing to do.

I've sold one lot like this and will do so again. I'll probably hold onto the arms in case I ever get a doll that needs them, but I could easily sell the arms (1 set at a time) and get good value from them, considering the cheap shipping. Arm sets sometimes sell for more than the doll itself.. with arms still on it.. eBay doesn't make any sense sometimes, does it? xD

I'll have to organize the clothing better someday, but for now my Howleens have a nice selection of clothing to pick through when they need a little something to complete an outfit.  ;)

Monster Discussion / Re: What is your MH Holy Grail?
« on: January 23, 2016, 02:05:56 AM »
I guess mine would be the Howleen/Clawdeen sister two-pack. I have at least 8 still in the box.
And I probably have over 10 of that Howleen out of the box.  ^^;
And yes I will be buying more.

The dolls I'd like to have, but don't, are the Swimsuit Rochelle, Haunted Rochelle, and Gloom & Bloom Jennafire & Cleo.
Exclusives can be very annoying sometimes... It took these dolls to teach me the very harsh lesson that
I must instantly purchase Wal-Mart and Target exclusives as soon as I can or I'll never get them (at least for any reasonable price).
I keep hoping that they will re-release these. Maybe it's just a matter of time. :D

Monster Discussion / Re: Monster High Mega Bloks!!!
« on: January 23, 2016, 02:00:22 AM »
I'm disappointed that they haven't made Howleen yet, but maybe we'll see her in series 4 or 5.
In the meantime I'll continue collecting all the different sets, supporting the series in the hopes they'll make my favorite character.
Venus and Twyla are also among my favorites, so I was happy when they added Twyla in series 2.

Does anyone else have a hard time finding the little figure packs? I have to get them at Wal-Mart and I don't get to go often, so
there's a good chance I could miss out on some. I've been lucky so far and have all 16 of those released so far.

I haven't purchased Lagoona's lab or the Creepateria playsets from series 2 yet, but I figure I can wait until there's a slight discount
for them in an online store. I wish the online shops (wal-mart, target, mattel's shop, etc..) would sell complete sets of the 8 minifigures
for $32 a set. It would save me a lot of time and effort. At least I actually CAN find them though. I feel sorry for people who have to
get them from the eBay sellers.

I've seen the new sets for series 3. Does it include Mistress Bloodgood's body? I can only see her head. xD

I have at least 20 of Howleen. The original with orange hair is my favorite. I can't get enough of them. xD
The dance class and carnival versions are my least favorite versions, but I love them too and won't pass up a good deal when I see it.
I would appreciate a new hair color for her though. Something that's not pink..

I enjoy giving her a variety of different outfits. I especially love to steal clothing from nicely dressed Ever After High dolls and give them to Howleen. xD  She can actually wear some of their outfits quite well. Surprisingly, she has a slightly bigger butt than the regular size MH dolls, so the EAH outfits tend to fit her quite well. The only exceptions are the longer stockings, dresses, etc.. because she's so short. The EAH shoes actually fit her better than regular size MH shoes. Long boots usually aren't a problem, but for the most part her feet don't reach the bottom of most MH shoes. Still, Howleen has a great selection of shoes so it's not that big of an issue.

Monster Discussion / Re: What would be your dream line-up for a movie?
« on: January 23, 2016, 01:41:16 AM »
I know there's 13 wishes, but I'd like to see another movie, and it actually be centered on Howleen.
In 13 Wishes she wasn't really in it much, and was more of a figurehead while the movie actually focused
more on the primary characters and their heroics. Maybe Howleen could be the hero this time? Hmm?

Also, despite her and Twyla's diaries saying they're friends you don't really see them together much
in the webisodes. Howleen was strangely absent from Haunted, despite Twyla and her being best buds.
What's up with that?

I get the feeling that they just want Howleen to be "The annoying little sister" and they feel like she is
redundant because they already have Clawdeen.

Also, Howleen's supposed to be good at soccer, even better than her sister. I'd like to see her playing
soccer in at least a webisode, and also a soccer doll of her. I rather enjoyed the sports line of dolls
and would like to see more of them.

How old are you? 37
Where do you live? State, Country? Planet?  USA, Planet Earth

How long have you been collecting?
What made you want to collect Monster High dolls?

I've been collecting Monster High since the Create-A-Monster series was first released.
At the time I wasn't much interested in the regular series. I just thought the custom doll line was neat,
and that it might end up being worth some $$$ to invest in them.

A bit later, I absolutely fell in love with Howleen from her first release in the sister pack.

Tell us about your collection!
I have a rather extensive collection of Monster High, but my favorites are Howleen and the Mega Bloks sets/figures.
I plan on collecting every Mega Bloks set as they are released. I am disappointed that they have not made Howleen yet, but hopefully...
