Faceup Update :frankie:

Yay! My first finished MH face up! ^.^ I've done lots of other kinds of dolls before, but this is my first Monster High! It's definitely interesting having more definition to the eye shape (unlike the Obitsu heads I've been working with, which are mostly flat around that area). It's also interesting to go for a slightly more realistic look without eyeholes (also unlike the BJDs I have). She's borrowing clothes until I can properly make her some.

(Sorry about the picture quality... I only have my phone camera right now :eesh: Picspam below in case you want to see anyway!)

Whoa. That's some serious clean-up you did on the Marker Child! I'm super impressed with the before and after differences.

Acetone is magic ^.^ I'm definitely happy she came as clean as she did.

I had spray paint plans for her if she hadn't  :wow:

Will try to update soon!

The "Harley Quinn" is an Apple White doll... pretty sure Signature because of the gradient eyebrows. There are a lot of people who use 10% benzoyl peroxide acne cream to remove ink stains from dolls, I don't know specific brands since I've not had to do it myself.

Sweet, thank you! I've heard of the benzoyl peroxide fix too, but I think I'd worry about it reacting with the MSC since it stays active in the vinyl... basically forever, from what I read during dye research. I'd be interested to find out about that, either way. I might just be paranoid.

For now, I'm not too worried about the purple mark that's left. I'll probably cover it with a heart shaped beauty mark or something. The redness also plays well since I'm thinking of turning that doll into a Wife of Bath custom. (She has a red face, a gap tooth, and a ten pound hat that I'm still trying to figure out... should be fun)

Kind of makes me wonder how a hybrid DC Elizabeth/Fairyland/Soom/DoD would look? Probably horrifying. And I know it certainly wouldnít cost $33.99, considering that Elizabeth alone is normally $480 blank and without shipping.

4.9 stars. Gee, I wonder :what:

I found an Aliexpress listing for "Paternity scarves" instead of "Infinity scarves," made even more hilarious by the fact that the main photo is split-screen with an adult woman and a small child. ^^;

...I snortgiggled >> Is it bad that I read the caps with more emphasis?

I love your process pics. That poor Maddie! I would like to see more of your Pure Neemo dyed doll. It looks like it took the dye well and evenly.

Thanks! ^.^

Is she a Maddie? :0 There was some debate over who she once was over here, my friend and I thought we had it narrowed down to maybe Apple, ooor Blondie, but... yeah, I don't know the EAH girls very well. I just know I like their body shape a little better than the MH, usually.

She's one of the medium height ones, though, and I thought Maddie was small? I could be wrong.

I'll get a few more pictures together for the Neemo  Funny story, she actually didn't come out as evenly as I wanted. I had to work on her like crazy with a magic eraser - mostly it was her thighs, and anywhere the joints connected. Eventually I did manage something mostly even. I like her, anyway. (If anyone asks, they're stretch marks for realism.)

Pureneemo Project Cont.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I dyed a vinyl Obitsu head alongside the Pureneemo body. On that day, the match was almost perfect.

Two days later, the vinyl looked flat and terrible and completely the wrong shade.

I'd heard dye has to settle in vinyl versus other plastic, but I didn't quite get it until that. I'm working on blushing her and giving her a face, but she's been kind of a frustrating project. (The things we do for the characters we love, right?)

Incidentally, I did make my first yarn wig for this girl. So that was kind of awesome.

Was probably the only thing that turned out perfectly.

Eventually I'll finish her face. Hopefully.

My home is very Ikea, so I can probably answer a lot of Ikea questions

My doll room has two Billys and an Expedit (which has the same internal shelf size as the Kallax, but with a thicker outer part). I have a Billy with the full glass doors downstairs to display tea pots. I have one of those tall skinny shelves, and recently replaced two of those cheapo little little shelves (both of which I forgot the name). I love the Hemnes series for how it looks and feels, one room in the house is almost all Hemnes. I have drawers too, but I'll address that if someone asks (although I will say, we recently got a full refund on every Malm chest we had - Ikea recalled a number of them due to tipping hazards).

I've been pondering some Billy bookshelves with doors, efficient and wide shelves. I'll find a link to the IKEA bookcase we got for hubs last year, has glass on top half of door and wood/solid on bottom half, to hide 'messiness' - I was thinking that might work for my dollie stuff too.

I love the Billy bookcases! Almost more than the more expensive ones, since I live in a small house and these are low profile, yet roomy for storage. If I could, Iíd line all my walls with Billy bookcases. They even have a clever little cutout for the baseboard that some of the others donít - that is to say, they sit flush against the wall.

I have big plans to invest in this type of shelf for my dollies, and make separate rooms for them. :)
I already have a 2x2 unit, but it's a tad too close to the floor, and too much access for the cats. xD
Also, are there any type of doors you can use for these shelves?

There are door inserts you can get for each individual cube, and also drawer inserts, but they get pretty pricey when you're doing this for a large shelf... as someone who also has cats, I tend to put the plastic boxes lower and the things that are bad for kitties to have (like dolls) higher. Then again, the Expedit/Kallax is nearly impossible to find perfectly fitting boxes for (that arenít just that huge deep one). I ended up making some.

I'm afraid my crafting room/doll arrangement is a bit messy right now, but what the heck. Here are some pictures.

Newest Updates

(Full update + picspam further down)

EDIT: WARNING. Here there be doll nudity. I will contain it in spoiler tags.

EDIT EDIT: Because I didn't properly think this thread through... err... I'm gonna put newly added updates up top, and leave the old first post below. Teehee.

So, I started like five more projects at once. -pushes the other unfinished pile out of sight- >>

Anyway, I thought Iíd post to keep myself going. I've started probably way too many projects, but then, I always seem to do that to myself.

It's gonna get image heavy, so I'm only gonna post the interesting ones. Enjoy!

Buy/Sell/Trades / Eve's Wishes
« on: February 28, 2017, 01:01:31 AM »
Guess Iíll stick a thread in here. Good to keep track of the wishes. Probably good for the siggy too, just in case I decide to actively seek.

These are just the ghouls I like the most for customization. They can be naked or in whatever state of disrepair. I have almost no interest in collecting them as full sets.

Since Iím gonna wreck Ďem, I only want Ďem cheap.

Avea Trotter(s)
Kala Meríri (for a specific custom)
Any of the cats (I'm seriously fond of the cats) [especially Catrine(s)]
Any of the robots (Robecca, Elle, Dracubecca)
Interesting bodies
The tol girls

The boys
The tol girls
Kitty Cheshire (for a specific custom)

Okay, I lied a little. Or maybe I didnít, I did say almost no interest. Here are the dolls I actually do want whole:

Kjersti Trollson
Gooliope (eyeballing her pretty hard atm >> )

Introductions! / Greetings, Monsters
« on: February 13, 2017, 05:06:09 PM »
Greetings! Call me Eve. I'm going to do my intro by straight up answering the questions from the other thread, so here goes.

How old are you?
25. Itís funny that I'm here, actually, because as a kid I didnít really like dolls. I was much more into ďfunctional toysĒ like Legos and Kinex.
Where do you live? State, Country? Planet?
I'm reasonably certain the sky is blue here. Also there's a fair amount of foliage.

Do you work or attend school? Profession or major?
Both. Professional fabric handler. English Major. Love both, although my goal post-college is teacher.

Who are the important people in your life?
I promise I have them, but I donít want to get speech-y. Next.

How long have you been collecting?
I actually started with ball-jointed dolls... wow, long time ago. Years back. I don't even remember when. From there, I got really into Pureneemos and Obitsus, and I now have a small army of them. Iíd never really been into dolls smaller than MSDs before that, but from the Pureneemos, it was a short jump into MH. I've only been collecting MH for about a month now.

What made you want to collect Monster High dolls?
Making characters. Customizing in general. MH has a specific aesthetic and being able to pick them up cheaply emboldens me when it comes to potentially destructive mods.

Tell us about your collection!
I have a huge collection of MH dolls from thrift stores and eBay, most of which are in questionable condition, waiting for customization. Other than that, I have a small core collection of whole dolls (with their outfits and all their stuff) that includes only my favorites (no other dolls are safe from the mods).
