Sightings / Re: WALMART: Finds & Sales
« on: January 21, 2019, 05:04:54 PM »
Our Walmart had the Quidditch Harry and Draco dolls.  Ron and Dumbledore were $5 on clearance.  Hairdorables were $6 on clearance.  The budget Shoppies were also $5.  Also saw the Snapstars dolls and a few fashion packs.

I've been keeping an eye on the announcements, not really excited or expecting much, but darn it, Patrick with the board nailed to his head is pretty cute!

Skull Shores Gil and a Dance Class Lagoona have sold.  Also back on our regular Saturday post office schedule.

The castle was released, but the blind boxes were not.  Neither was wave 5 of the Mega Bloks.  I'm not even sure of the second set of Halloween minis were available.

My sister got me the Black Butler Book of Atlantic DVD and the first two volumes of the Castlevania manga.  Other than that, just money and candy.

Updated our pictures again, did not realize how many of mine were facing away when I took the picture.  ^^;

I really hate going to the post office this time of year, but I will be glad to either hold dolls until the new year or brave the post office if anyone is interested in buying now.

Sent my mom with some money to pick up Smash Ultimate before she got to work.  It's gonna be a long day.

Placed an Amiami order for some new Fire Emblem merchandise, and for an old badge I had missed that came back in stock.

Ghostly tea party Ari hair color change?

https://mindose.tumblr.com/image/177651811724

Looking at them, there's quite a few little changes.  Clawdeen is closest to the first image, though her shoes have changed, her skirt appears lighter and more purple, and I think her teapot might have, too.

Ari's hair somehow managed to get even worse.  It looks like sad cotton candy.  Her fan is lighter and her little tray is now all one solid color.  Her dress also looks to have a more simple pattern.   She also appears to have lost her purse but might have gained a headpiece, going off the blue looking thing in that mess of pink hair.

Lagoona's skirt has been shortened and lost most of its patterned looked.  Her top also looks different, more lighter.  Her hair piece has gotten smaller, and her ponytail looks lighter and more curled.

This is honestly a big headscratcher to me.  I didn't think they would be released at all, but here we have an image with very noticeable tweaking to it.  Will they drop in at least on Amazon like the last few EAH?

Our Walmart never got the Comic Book dolls, but I have zero interest in them.   Surprised, but also not, by the little siblings.  They didn't sell so well, so there must have been a surplus to send back, I suppose.

I don't know why but I was hoping for something a little better. Like the later articulated slim box lines at least. They could have sent the Ballet dolls or the Garden Ghouls or even Electrified.

Honestly even Hasbro didn't have much for their offering. Just a few of the first series of basic princesses and some assorted Elena, Elsa, and Rapunzel the Series dolls.

The high points this year were more the Shoppie set, the Fingerlings set, and the Hatchimal. All those were at least exclusives that were never available anywhere else.

I kind of expected the Comic Book lines, or Emoji Ghouls or something like that.  I had very little hope for it, but Ballet could have been cool.  I only saw them once at Target.

It looks like toys just aren't having a good year in general.  I was browsing the Black Friday ads everywhere, and Target only had eight pages of toys in all, whereas there were 14 pages of video games.

That being said, even video games don't seem to be getting much space/sales this year.  A lot of sites had new games at full price mixed into the Black Friday sales.

I think Black Friday in general is scaling back. I don't know if it's because of the trade war or that more people are shopping online but there were less deals this year. Target actually closed and reopened instead of being open straight through the 2 days like they usually do.

It does feel that way, doesn't it?  Black Friday just wasn't a huge thing this year.  We went to Walmart this morning hoping to pick up a game, but they were putting most things up.  The games had been moved to the bottom of the cases in the electronics section.  The only things still out were a few household goods, pajama sets, arts and crafts sets, dvds, and a few toys.

My sister was finally able ot get a Tharja cipher badge.  It took three tries.  The first time, I bought eight badges from someone off eBay, including the Awakening profile badges which I've never seen listed before.  They printed a label and left it on their porch where it was stolen.

The second time, she got one off Otsukai, and it got stuck in the post office, damaged somehow, and returned to Japan.

Third time's the charm, she's about to cry with joy between the badge itself and the sweet note included from the seller.  Here she is in all her wicked glory!

I was going to let this just go, but decided it might be worth a shot to make a plea if anyone comes across Fire Emblem games to think of us.  We've got a decent amount of loose dolls, some in box dolls, and a few Ever After High, too.

This is really unexpected.  Our Walmart phased out Super Hero Girls pretty early this year, and the last bit of MH we had went in the fall restocks.  I wonder if we'll even get them since they just got rid of the ones we had.

I won't go out on Thanksgiving this year, nothing I've really been hunting for, but we usually check Walmart Friday morning/afternoon.  I'll be sure to report anything if I see any at that time.

I'm so happy these little cuties finally came!  It took Amiami some time, but they were worth the wait.

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I was so excited to see all three Arclights getting merchandise.  Usually, it's just Quattro, and while I love him, I have wanted a set of all three brothers for so long that I had to get both the keychains and the straps.  And I had to have a Vector, too.

I love the acrylic pinch straps from Cospa! I have so many from different series now, because they're just so darned cute!

These are my first, and I was amazed at how huge they are!  The Fire Emblem ones I have are about two inches long and rather thin, so I expected that.  These are incredible.  I might have to look into more to see what else they have.

Updated out of box doll pictures and removed our in box dolls.  In box dolls are going to start going to eBay and Mercari, but if you're looking for something in box, ask and we'll see if we have it.

Both of our grandmothers collected porcelain dolls, and always tried to get my sister and into it but we never liked them.  They're just there and blank faced and not appealing to us.  I would occasionally buy Barbies before Monster High, but I was never a big Barbie collector, I would just get ones I liked.

Monster High definitely changed that, with their unique looks and awesome clothes and many, many joints.  I don't recall every having seen a doll like that before, though I had heard of ball joint dolls but I never looked into them because they were far too expensive.

It also got my sister and I accustomed to going to the toy aisles of stores and looking more instead of just browsing to waste time as everyone else shopped.  But now the toy aisles are definitely a shell of what they were a few years ago.  Our Shoppies section is vanishing, though my sister isn't near as interested in them as she was.  Enchantimals have a small section, as does Boxy Girls and a few Descendants.  For the most part, our doll aisle as it was is no more.  It's mostly Barbie, Calico Critters, and the Harry Potter merchandise and dolls.  I'm not sure it's just dolls, toys in general just aren't doing much of anything.

Surprise toys and interactive pets are really what's popular right now. I know because I actively collect a few lines and when they first come out they often sell out fast.

Even the blind bag interest seems to be waning though, at least around here.  They don't zoom off the shelf nearly as fast.  I don't even think the Hairdorables have been touched, but then they're far too costly for a complete mystery.  I think the only thing that's been noticeably bought are the mystery Harry Potter wands and Polly Pocket.

The TRU liquidation didn't help things either. A lot of parents bought stuff on the cheap to stockpile it away. I think it might be a rough year for toys.

Hadn't thought of that, though I don't know how many people from here went to the one in Tallahassee when it closed.  I wouldn't be surprised if many people made the trip, though.  People do love deals, after all.
