Got some bad news this weekend, so I needed a little pick-me-up... Bought three cheap girls on Amazon! Standard Ari Hauntington, Batsy Claro, and Haunted Clawdeen. Ari and Clawdeen were severely marked down, Batsyl was about 25% off. I'm excited for them, even if I can't display anything right now... Excited to take Batsy's headband off, lol.

A new mishap today! Tried to wipe a Draculaura's face clean to practice customizing on her, used non-acetone nail polish remover, because I've heard it works for that. Just turned into a black smeary mess all over her face.  :dazed: I tried wiping it all off, but no dice. I guess Acetone really is the way to go? I'll pick some up later.

I'm in love with that Venus' hair! :D

As for customs gone awry... I bought a Draculaura to use the body for something, and the head for something else. Tried to remove the head to dehair her and snapped the neck peg off inside. Ended up just tossing the body a few months later, sans hands. Didn't see a reason to keep it and the broken peg around, lol.

That's my greatest fear when switching heads. I've not had it happen yet, but one of the Rochelle's I'm working on was close. :(

Every time I have to tug a little to get the head off and feel some resistance, I think "it's happening again!" and almost give up.

poor Clawdeen.
Wish I could invent a paint technique where slips like this don't happen.

Not MH, but this is the cutest oops I've ever seen on a toy.

Adorable! I love it. <3

Danbo, the eyes look even, it's the different sized pupils that look wonky. Don't you hate it when you don't see the wonk right away.
I think it looks disproportionate because the left eye (Clawdeen's right) was printed too high and so it is warped by the curve of the eye. I've seen it happen quite a bit and the sister 2-pack Clawdeen is notorious for wonk and bad glue seepage.

Oh, I see. I wondered if glue was a big problem for this Clawdeen, but didn't think about how wonk might be.  Looking at the bald doll right now, her right eye is printed a little higher than the left, and her right pupil does need to be rounder. Still, I've already decided to keep her and rehair her. Got colors picked out already to match the faceup. :P

I've had this Clawdeen for months, just took a picture of her because I'm looking at rehairing her (greasy, nasty hair on this girl!) and omg... I'm not just imagining horrible wonk, right? It's there, right? I can only seem to see it on my phone.

Hey! How is everyone's second week going? I realized today it was almost over- where has April gone?!- so I hurried to get a picture of a nice healthy meal.

Here's one of my favorites for lunch or a snack- Greek salad! Recipe is as follows:

1 cucumber
2 Plum or Roma tomatoes
A sprinkle of feta - to taste
Kalamata olives - to taste
Croutons (optional)
Spring mix/lettuce (optional)
Red wine vinegar
Olive Oil

Peel the cucumber. Cut it into fourths lengthwise and then medium dice. Wash and dice the tomatoes. Combine in a bowl, sprinkle with as much or as little feta as you'd like. Pit and halve the kalamata olives, mix again. Combine equal parts olive oil and red wine vinegar (and a little kalamata brine if you'd like! I do.) for the dressing, drizzle over the salad. Optional: serve on a bed of spring mix/lettuce with croutons.  I also like to eat it with a warm piece of pita. :)

I also made an eggplant lasagna last night- it turned out... okay. :S I don't like eggplant, turns out. I like my mom's veggie lasagna better! But here's the recipe for anyone who wants to try it out. :)

Good news everyone!

I picked up some Fabri-tac and added it to the inside of Frankie's head, washed, styled, and trimmed the hair. Here she is!

The end of some of the pink is a little scraggly, even after trimming, but I'm still happy with her. Really wish I'd painted her scalp green before I started.

Her dress is Haunt Couture by the way! I just had to have this one.

Drawer liner! That's so clever.

I'm working, and sick, so I'm not biking as much right now. Planning to bike across town and back on Monday morning to do some errands. In the meantime: Yesterday I resisted the siren's call of McDonald's on my way to work. Never been so proud of myself. I'm also trying harder to stick to my new diet, not eating a bunch of junk at home and work.

What kind of junkfood are you having a problem with, out of curiosity? I have some methods I use for helping myself avoid it, but it depends on the kind.

Right now, I'm having trouble with sugary cereal. I just get bored and pour myself a bowl. :P I think after this bag runs out, I'll buy myself a healthy cereal, or some more oatmeal so I CAN'T munch on it at all times of day.

Great pics, by the way! Dfotw, I love that mini yoga mat. And writtenhuman, your custom doll is so cute! I always love seeing her. True, I meant to say earlier, that snack bowl is such a good idea! I need to get some healthy snacks and do something similar.

True, great job! I haven't gotten to hit the gym yet myself (big paper to write that I keep putting off :S) But I'm excited to get into my campus' gym next week if I can.

Had a bad anxiety attack this morning so I didn't get to work out. :( I think I'll try doing some work now that I've calmed down and then work out before bed though, so hopefully I can still salvage the first day of the challenge!
Writtenhuman, sorry you had a rough start. Anxiety is never fun. :( I'm having a bit of a tough time myself getting going, especially with leaving junk food alone, although I am biking a lot.
