I really want the stock Catrine, and possibly Cleo -depends on whatever shoes were reused for her. But jeez... I was hoping for something a little nicer, I loved the previous sweets line and missed out on all but Ghoulia. I wasn't expecting THAT level, but something more in keeping with the regular slimline -like Catrine's Shriekwrecked doll.

I think they're adorable! With the right fabrics and some lacy trim, they'd also make good goth lolita dresses too.

I wonder if "corsaire" is some kind of production code for this line? Regardless, I'm surprised to see a new Goo! I didn't get the original despite collecting all the other FDC lines, but I think I really dig the rainbow hair. Can't wait to see better photos!

The more I look at her, the more I see little details that make me like her more -the whale on her cap, for example. I still won't pre order, but I am finding her ....less unattractive, lol?

I'd just assumed they'd made her head harder or something, tbh.

Also, THOSE SHOES. Suddenly I am re-evaluating my stance on this doll. I want those shoes. I need those shoes. THEY ARE ADORABLE.

If the jaw slides up and down,  then the lack of paint/screen inside makes a loooot more sense. If her mouth closes, I'm inclined to like her more, but not enough to pay prepay prices. Maybe if she doesn't sell out.

I'm kind of stupidly in love with that Catrine. She's adorable -and I really like the little Sailor Jerry inspired print on her dress.

I got a cam today! Walmart had a random "mystical" pack in clearance for $2.50, and I was going to leave it bc I didn't think I wanted a cam... and then I saw the unicorn crown and yeah.  Totally sold.

I'm supposed to be cleaning my office, but a little procrastination never hurt anybody.

The flower crowns I've been working on. The one on Bunny is a work in progress, but is shaping up to be my favorite.

Yup, still in love with that Leela.  <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I can't get over how smooth and even your paintjob looks! I would never have guessed you painted to match the body. Also, I meant to ask, WHERE did you get her little wrist thingy? It's fantastic! Did you repurpose something else?

Off Topic / Re: Unboxing vs keeping in the box
« on: April 27, 2016, 06:11:56 PM »
I debox normally, but my office is in such upheaval right now that I have a ridiculous inbox stash. I don't collect them as an investment, so keeping them in box seems silly. That said, I did keep two boxes -my collectors edition Draculaura- because she looks beautiful displayed in front of it- and my original wave Draculaura, but that's just so I can offer it on the off chance I choose to sell her and the buyer wants it.

They're toys, and I feel like they're meant to be played with. Half the joy of dolls is interacting with them, and remaking them, and playing with their hair.

Customs / Re: Watercolor Pencils: Which colors do I need the most?
« on: April 27, 2016, 01:01:04 PM »
I reach for light brown, black and white the most. I use the brown for lightly sketching in eyes and then going over it with the black. I think I started out buying those three and some eye colors -a couple blues, greens and some grays- and have slowly added to it.

I don't use pencils for the lips -except the white- but if you will, then I'd pick up some colors that you'd like for that. Pinks, purples, or something that would seem natural -like a medium green for Frankie or a bluish-gray for Ghoulia.

Will love to see your pics Whimsiary when you get a chance to post them!

I grabbed the two I like working in best. I JUST got my Alice book today, so I'm pretty excited to start in it, although I have to flatten it out -thanks USPS for rolling it up to fit in my tiny mailbox. I really appreciate that. :hmm: I've included the covers in case anyone is interested. I can highly recommend the Dover books (historical fashion plates?1 yes please!), and Comickers is my absolute fave. I bought it almost 4 years ago now, and paid about 20 bucks, but it looks like it's pretty cheap on Amazon now. :)

Here you go:

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I'm really bad about ever actually finishing.  :sheepish:

I have several. Several years back I bought The Comickers Coloring Book (http://www.amazon.com/Comickers-Coloring-Book-Magazine/dp/0061242047) which is still my favorite, as it happens to have thick enough paper -and single sided printing -to work with my copics. About a year ago, I picked up two of the Johanna Basford books -the ones that ended up topping the NYT list for a while- and while I like them, the paper quality isn't what I'd like. I can't really use my markers with them, and I'm not as fond of colored pencils, so I don't reach for it as much, despite absolutly loving the designs. I also recently purchase Abigail Larson's Alice in Wonderland (http://www.amazon.com/Alices-Wonderfilled-Adventures-Curious-Coloring/dp/1440346682) coloring book for two reasons: One, I LOVE HER WORK. And 2, she said that the pages would withstand working in Copics! My favorite!

So, I've bought myself 4 over the course of about 3 years. I actually own about 12 because EVERYBODY AND THEIR MOTHER gave me one for Christmas! Most of which... I don't actually like. :/

When I get home, I'll post some pictures of the ones I've done. I love my Comickers best, but I'm very slow at working in it.

Pillaging a Ross the other day brought me a Hat-tastic Cerise and a Legacy Day Apple. They also had the FDC Rochelle set down to 10 bucks, and I'm seriously considering going back for one.

Sightings / Re: TRU USA: Finds & Sales
« on: April 16, 2016, 11:57:04 AM »
Thanks for sharing about the sale!  I picked up FdC Honey for 11.99, Book Party Ginger for 7.79 and Mirror Lake Ashlynn for 5.99. I also picked up the Denim and Tulle Bratz fashion pack since it was only 3 or 4 bucks (Bratz are also part of he 40% off), and I've been drooling over it since splendidlysinister posted about it.

The FTG's were tempting -17 change for Elissabat, 16 for Goo and 20 for the other 3.

I popped into Walmart a couple days ago intending to pick up a Cerise or some bases (and I did, I found a mangled Scaris Catrine for 10 bucks woo) and ended up walking out with a Thronecoming Apple, so that's pretty awesome!

Unfortunately, I'm out of room to display things, so the Waiting-On-New-Bookshelves stack in my closet has now increased by one Thronecoming Apple White. :/
