Off Topic / my chocoholic dog...
« on: October 27, 2016, 02:26:29 PM »
....ate a big hole in my wallet. Last weekend, I made brownies and went through our stock of baking supplies. I threw out a box of expired double chocolate chip brownie mix and forgot to take it outside (my dog has a particularly irritating habit of breaking into our "dog proof" garbage can and eating everything inside it).

and, naturally, she ate the whole flippin' bag. I was out of the house when it happened, and she managed to drag it into my room and got cocoa powder and plastic all over my carpet without anyone who was home noticing.

She barfed a chocolate nightmare ALL OVER my car seat when I took her to the vet, and they insisted on keeping her overnight for observation since she had been digesting it for some time before I took her there.

$500 dollars later.... -_- she's thankfully ok and has since made a full recovery, but I'm unemployed. So, it was quite irritating that a dumb mistake like leaving something so tempting and dangerous in the trash cost me so much money.

Ironically, if I were home and caught her in the act, I might have been able to give her the treatment the vets did for about a tenth of the cost--I have a first aid for pets book sitting on my coffee table with the correct dosage of ipecac syrup for dogs and the correct type of activated charcoal to use.

anyone else have pets with an inexplicable attraction to food that could literally kill them? This isn't the first time she's gotten into chocolate.

Monster Discussion / To gel or not to gel? That is the question.
« on: October 13, 2016, 05:51:10 AM »
Hi all!

I recently picked up dawn of the dance clawdeen and cleo for a good price. Both have awful crunchy dried-gel hair, but clawdeen's at least looks good. cleo's....could probably use a wash.

In your experience, should factory gel be left alone to preserve the doll's value, or is it ok to rinse it out? I do have some gel if I decide to fix it later, but it's not quite as strong as the factory gel. :P

Buy/Sell/Trades / PJ's Wishlist: Extra accessories/shoes? I might need them!

Hi all!  :)

I started collecting monster high earlier this year, and a lot of my dollies are secondhand. As such, I'm missing quite a few accessories, parts, and shoes. If you have any of these tumbling around your spare parts box, let me know and maybe we can work out something!

Stuff I need
*Jinafire Long (Scaris): Black part of hair chopstick with red tassels (I already have the golden flower)
*Operetta (Dot Dead Gorgeous): Shoes, mask, purse
*Frankie Stein Deluxe fashion pack 2012: black shoe with lightning bolt
*Abbey Bominable (music festival): magenta boot clip thingies, belt, backstage pass
*Catrine DeMew (Gloom n Bloom): shoes, ankle flowers, plant and little hand rake thing
*Cleolei (Freaky fusion): Neck scarf, belt right earrring stud, lower left earring stud
*Avea trotter: 3 of the black leg wraps
*Create-a-Monster color me creepy (from base playset): right arm

If I mention a specific side, I'm referring to the side that would correspond anatomically from the doll's view. (ex: left hand = appears on the right from the front)

I do have a few small accessories that I could possibly trade in exchange for something approximately equivalent in value, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate to add them to this post.

Thanks for looking!

Brags / 2012 fashion walmart??
« on: September 22, 2016, 09:53:12 AM »
Hey all! Today I decided to check out a walmart that was a little further from my house than the next closest two, and I found these two in the clearance aisle!

I was super excited and I had to get them both. The only shame is that Frankie's fashion pack is missing one shoe. I tried looking through all of the shelves, but it was just packed with all kinds of stuff that had fallen out of package (And there was an older woman there looking at me a little strangely) so I decided to let it go  Everything else seems to be in place, though!

I also saw two BYBY operettas (for $4 each), a fancy BYBY elle edee, and some bratzillaz witch fashion packs  I was tempted to pick up one for my casta fierce, but they were $7 each, which is a bit steep for me :P

Introductions! / Hello, world!

Hi there! My name is Renee, but I go by PJsparkles on here and MLParena :)

I started informally collecting monster high dolls recently. In the past, I thought they were cute, but I only owned one that I bought on a whim. I've been seeing monster high dolls at the Savers I shop at regularly to look for ponies, so I started picking them up.

It's nice to meet you all!
