Hello,

So, which Monster High movie is your favorite...so far...and why?

Seeing as how I haven't actually seen any Monster High movie besides "Boo York, Boo York", I am partial to that one, because I love musicals, and, as far as musicals go, I like "Boo York, Boo York"! :)

Off Topic / One of my favorite actors, Gene Wilder, has died at 83... :(
« on: August 29, 2016, 03:46:01 PM »
Hello,

Gene Wilder was one of my favorite actors, mostly because of his role as the title character from the 1971 movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", and he is now dead...at only 83:(

I give volunteer presentations about musicals, and, in light of this sad news, I am going to change my scheduled presentation to "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", so that I can dedicate the presentation to one of the most charming and charismatic Wonkas ever!

Hello,

Take a look at this picture:

https://www.specktra.net/images/7/76/76f422f6_tumblr_ns4sjuQVh21unsfwwo2_1280.jpeg

The doll on the left is from the "Boo York, Boo York" gift set, and she has a much lighter, less bluish skin tone than does her single, regular-release counterpart. Wow! What a difference!

Interestingly enough, I also think that the doll on the left more closely resembles her animated counterpart, because of her light grey complexion.

Of course, the darker Mouscedes (I have her) also has sparkly skin, which looks pretty cool; the gift set Mouscedes has regular skin, with regards to the fact that it isn't sparkly!

Which do you like more?

I can't decide, as I like the gift set doll's skin tone and accessories more, and yet, I think that the single doll's skin tone and sparkly quality give her a more monsteriffic look! The single doll has tons of personality! Maybe I'm more for the single doll...although I'd still love to have the headband from the other doll. :)  :P

Hello,

http://vintagedancer.com/steampunk/steampunk-dresses-and-costumes/

The above site is called Vintage Dancer. The site doesn't belong to me (It's the property of Debbie), but it's a really cool source for outfit ideas, including those that would perfectly fit Steampunk Robecca and Rockabilly Operetta! :)

Off Topic / Two major thumps on the head for me! Ouch!
« on: August 25, 2016, 09:24:13 PM »
Hello,

Not too long ago, I was at a doctor appointment, and, on the way home, I got back into the truck, and I promptly hit the top of my head...really hard...on the door frame, and then, today, I was going back into the chicken coop, and I started to trip on the top steps, and the top of my head hit the door frame...really hard...I was barely getting over the other hit to the head!

I guess that I need to be more careful, 'cause I am so sick of accidentally being hit in the head by stationary objects. Ouch:blink:

Off Topic / Did your eyes ever deceive you in a weird way?
« on: August 25, 2016, 06:05:40 PM »
Hello,

Today, I was looking out of a window, and I could have sworn that I saw the...largest...butterfly...ever! The "butterfly's wings" turned out to be a doe's ears, twitching just in view above the top of an outdoor table! What a disappointment:P

So, have your eyes ever deceived you in that type of a way?

Monster Discussion / Which MH-related dreams do you wish were realities?
« on: August 17, 2016, 04:21:16 AM »
Hello,

Have you ever awakened from a totally clawsome MH dream (Ie: A new doll was available, etc.), only to realize that you'd been dreaming, and that the reality that you dreamed would probably not be created by Mattel anytime soon?

A few nights ago, I had the most clawsome MH dream! I was going through my dolls, and, for some reason, I found some really grody-looking Barbie dolls, including one that was actually an old, grody Barbie head on a totally cool bunch of put-together CAM parts!

I awoke wishing that such a doll had actually existed, so that I could put a Monster High head onto it! I can't remember exactly what the cool doll looked like, but I think that it had a ton of orange glow-in-the-dark parts, like those from the one Add-On pack that I already own!

Hello,

Which types of MH characters are your favorites in doll form, and which are your least favorite, and why?

My favorite types of MH dolls are...in no particular order:

Werewolves: Love the ears and the fangs!
Vampires: Love the fangs!
Ghosts: I just like the idea of the translucent aspects of them!
Rodents: They look so interesting!
Bats: I love the fangs!
Pirates: I love pirates!
Hybrids: They just look so interesting!
Dragons: I love dragons!

My least favorite types of MH dolls are...in no particular order, and please remember that these are just my personal opinions:

Skeletons: They tend to scare me, as they remind me of self-starvation. I like River Styx slightly, though.

Monsters w/ Purple-Blue Skintones and / or Purple-Blue Lips: Sometimes, certain shades of blue or purple can look too much like Cyanosis to me, and I have too much experience with turning blue in the cold (Skin, lips, and nail beds all go purple-blue during Cyanosis) to want dolls that look like that. Strangely enough, though, I don't have a problem with Lagoona or her boyfriend, or with the mint-green-skinned monsters.

Monsters W/out True Faces: That can spook me a bit too much, although I do like my faceless custom Isi, A.K.A. The Deer Spirit!

Please show me all of your lovely, gloved ghouls, including any of the newer ones that you might have / get during the near future, like the Shreik Wrecked ghouls.  :)

Hello,

If Geek Shriek Gigi had three wishes, they'd be for soft, softer, and softest hair, because, no matter what I do, the sticky ick stays in her hair!

So, how do I remove the sticky ick, without majorly damaging Gigi's cool hair?

I'll thank you forever for any cool suggestions, as I am going insane about poor Gigi's hair!

Hello,

Well, I finally decided to go outside with the nail polish remover...and remove all of the face paint from my second Isi Dawndancer doll, and now, she finally looks like my idea of a Deer Spirit.

Since she haunts MH's grounds silently, she easily scares the other monsters, who erroneously nickname her "Carrie Boo", but she will choose, via a spirit connection, one ghoul to become a close mentor to, anyway, and it won't be Isi, as Isi already knows Carrie really well. If Isi forces a connection between Carrie and another monster, it's bad luck, so she can't do so; Carrie must find her "Little Spirit Sister" on her own...

Ironically, while I was outside, I heard a rustling some thirty feet, or so away (?), and I looked just in time to see a doe disappear past the water bucket...as her two adorable, spotted fawns came to drink some water from the bucket! Sweet, and extremely fitting, fur SHURR!

Customs / Wild Wolf's requests for suggestions about her ideas... :)
« on: July 23, 2016, 06:27:42 PM »
Hello,

I don't know if I'll ever get around to making costumes for a MH "Wizard of Oz" cast ("The Wizard of Gauze", starring either Nefera or Cleo as The Wizard!), but I'm curious as to which ghouls and mansters you'd cast as the classic characters...I already know that if I were going to create a "Wiz" cast later, Clawdeen and Clawd Wolf would feature heavily, fur SHURR! :)

So far, this is what I'm thinking...and, when I say "The Wizard of Oz", I'm talking about anything from Baum's original to the 1939 movie...to "Legends of Oz", which is one of my favorite adaptations of the stories...I love the songs from that movie!

Dorothy Gale: Clawdeen Wolf (Even though this wouldn't be a representation of "The Wiz", she has Dorothy's hair color, and she'd make a cool Dorothy...?
Auntie Em: Clawdia Wolf
Uncle Henry: Gil
Glinda: Gigi Grant
The Munchkins: The tiny MH centaurs (?) (Need)
The Wicked Witch of the West / Elphaba: CAM Witch "Wynette Hexu" (I still need a black wig for her... :P)
The Flying Monkeys: ?
Scarecrow: Venus
Tinman (Well...Tin Woman): Elle Eedee (Need)
Cowardly Lion: Toralei (Need)
The Wizard of Gauze: Either Nefera (Need) or Cleo

Well, thank you in advance for any suggestions that you may have. I don't know weather or not I should go with an earnest interpretation, or with an ironic one (Ie: Heath Burns...as The Scarecrow...think on that one for a minute...ROTFLOL! :P), so your suggestions are most appreciated.

I'm going to be busy this Summer, but I need to get my rear in gear by Autumn, with regards to camera issues, so that I can actually jerry rig some costumes together...and take some pictures...I have a Flickr album, so I should be fattening it up with some pictures already!  :P

I'd like to say that the project could be done by Howloween, 2016! :P

Monster Discussion / Is this lone Gilda Goldstag doll for real?

Off Topic / What are your most common nightmares / sad dreams?
« on: July 20, 2016, 04:30:37 AM »
Hello,
[Admin Edit - if you have messages for mod team, please PM us instead of posting on a thread, thanks ~Lilith]

I am curious to know what everyone else's most common nightmares / sad dreams are like, because my dreams are so vivid that they're like movies that I can remember for days, weeks, months, and even years!

Some of my most common frightening / sad dreams include the following:

* I'm floating downstairs, or through a room, and I can't stop myself...That always scares me!
* I'm running away from someone / a group, searching frantically in different rooms for a good place to hide myself, because one or more people are after me.
* The doll that scared me when I was a child keeps appearing, and she won't stay in the trash can when I throw her away, or else, I just find her randomly! (That sounds funny, now that I'm typing it, but that doll scared me at the tender age of about 5, and she's still somewhere in this house, and I am still afraid of her...)
* Something dangerous, like a plague, is happening, but nobody will listen to me, or everyone around me is doing something that's depressing, but they're acting like it's fun.
* My latest really sad dream was really sad. I was leaning forward over a large wall with some guy, and a depressing-looking dumpster was somewhere near us. He said something to the effect that he had never loved me. :(

Hello,

I am loving the "Monster High" webisodes that are on YouTube (and the "Meet [Fill in the blank]" shows), mostly because some of them really make me laugh a lot, but also because it's interesting to learn so much about the various characters.

I love the fact that Twyla sounds like a true 1990s-type Goth, and that I relate to Draculaura's personality...and Frankie's personality, and that Clawdeen is so down-to-Earth. I also love Abbey's honest attitude, because it's refreshing; in my mind, Draculaura's new nick will always be..."Baby Yak". I'll bet that Lagoona is a Pisces, too, so we have our sign in common.

I can't believe that the Inner Monster was really Siri! Oh...my...Rah! No clue before, fur SHURR!

I really hope that we'll continue to get new webisodes on the official site, 'cause I haven't seen any super new ones on YouTube lately.

Off Topic / Which specific aspects of movies most fascinate you?
« on: July 11, 2016, 11:50:54 PM »
Hello,

There are so many fascinating aspects to movies, but one of my favorites is the distressed effect! I love movies wherein some really neat, buttoned-down people end up looking disheveled and distressed ("Distressed" as in clothing, makeup, hair, etc. becoming more and more unkempt) by the end...

Screen dirt, screen sweat, outfit tears, etc. never fail to fascinate me. I'm always amazed at how well Hollywood tends to blur the lines between polished fantasy and sweaty, gritty reality when they let a character slump down into a mud puddle crying, or when someone becomes tragically ill, or when a perfectionist character is reduced to a desperate competitor.

I'm not just talking about thrillers, murder mysteries, etc. I love disaster movies, movies like "Les Miserables", movies about The Great Depression, etc.

Some of my favorite examples include...SPOILER ALERT...

* "A Far-Off Place" (1993): Reese Witherspoon's dusty face and hair when she falls down in the desert.
* "Jurassic Park" (1993): The outfits of the main characters, which become more and more distressed by the minute...
* "Les Miserables" (2912): Samantha Barks' (Eponine's) distressed outfit, which then becomes soaked in the rain as she cries...

So, which specific aspects of movies most fascinate you?

Hello,

So, if you were voting for certain ghouls and mansters at the end of the school year, which monsters would win which yearbook awards?

The categories could include, but needn't be limited to the following, so feel free to make more categories up, and then nominate away! (NOTE: You can nominate a ghoul AND a manster for most of the categories, 'cause that's oftentimes the way that they do things at real high schools):

Best Singer(s)
Cutest Couple
Most Likely to Succeed
Most Artistic
Most Athletic
Most Dramatically-Inclined
Most Humorous
