Trader Support / Concerns with Dollyhair's owner...Racial bias?
« on: October 23, 2019, 07:43:45 PM »
I'm surprised I haven't seen anything recent about this on here, but it's being discussed in several groups on FB and on instagram that some evidence has been brought to light regarding Tina, the owner of DollyHair possibly having ties to some white supremacy groups. I thought it was important to make the doll collecting community here aware...

The link with the best/most information on this is the Bad B/S/T/ group and Robin Black's personal page.

"...this information spread very quickly once it resurfaced (I was not aware of it until today but there is information from a few years ago mentioning it). You are most definitely free to make your own decisions on this matter. No one is going to force you to believe something. This was posted here to make you aware that this is out there. You can read all of the comments that were posted on the OP. Tina has also responded in the OP as well."

Some people have accused me of witch hunting, which is not my intention. My intention is sharing information, and the screenshots below (save for the last one from my own email) are visible for public viewing with a simple google search. As soon as I learned her facebook name, I tagged Tina and asked for her input on this, which she has responded to in the comments below. If you are unable to see that, the short version is that Tina states she has been aware of these posts in her name for years now but says she was not the one who posted them. She states it could have been her ex-husband or a competitor intent on slandering her. I personally am skeptical of this defense but as far as I know there is no way to prove, one way or another, which side is true. Someone has suggested setting up a donation button on her site for an anti-hate organization or group and she seems pretty receptive to that idea.

Original post 8:30AM CST:

Public post - feel free to share.

MLP/MH/Barbie and other doll collectors & customisers, you need to hear this.

It's going around Tumblr that Tina, owner of dollyhair, is a white supremacist. Back in 2007 she was posting on the nazi forum Stormfront, created by the KKK Grand Wizard. She was advocating for a whites only community and refusing to sell property or do business with non-whites. Those 2 screenshots are from the Tumblr post.

Before sharing this info, I wanted to be ABSOLUTELY sure that the email ties back to Tina, so I did a little research myself, and found that she used that email both in response to a negative review in 2012 as well as on her own business website. Furthermore I searched my own email and came up with old dollyhair purchase confirmations.

It is definitely her. Dollyhair supports segregation and illegal racial discrimination. Is this somebody you want to do business with?"

** According to a post on Garrett Sanders' Instagram account:  This doll is on display at Mattel's SDCC booth and is up for a fan vote.  They are asking for images of the doll to be reposted using the hashtags #monsterhighxmotu and #tellmattel.  If the image receives enough reposts, supposedly Mattel will be producing the doll for reals!

(Noted added by SaelaVe.)

EDIT: Possibly just some in house artwork or custom, but still awaiting mroe details...

I can't believe it but there's going to be an SDCC exclusive for MH this year apparently???, Cleo De Nile(?) as Evil Lyn from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe!!!! Check her out!

EDIT: COULD be an exclusive for some other event other than SDCC, details are still coming through, Mods please free free to edit accordingly of course :D

Looking for Sirena Von Boo, she doesn't need to be complete, but I would prefer her hair to have its original style...My Sirena's right arm broke recently and I just need to replace the doll...will consider mussed hair for the right price but would prefer an intact doll...thanks!!!

Customs / Prince Kong! Son of King Kong !!! by Heftysmurf76
« on: September 13, 2017, 12:30:51 PM »
So thanks are first due in no small part to DEStokes for this awesome custom, not only for the materials to make him, but the idea itself, he helped me brainstorm him and name him and everything.

I'll admit I had wanted to do a son of King Kong for awhile but he was always lurking in the back of my head and I never had a concrete idea until fast forward to the other day while chatting with Dane and wanting to dip my toes back into customizing again ( so miss new MH and the excitement that came with CAMs and Creating my own characters)...So without further ado I present PRINCE KONG, Son of King Kong!

and a Nekkid pic to get an idea of his full concept...

P.S.This is my first attempt at using Facebook imagery so I hope the photos are working, please LMK if they aren't and I will try another method :D

Never thought i'd type this out but I'm in need of a nude Frankie Stein and Draculaura!!! NOT Baity! I'd prefer a fully articulated reboot of each doll, but for the right price I'll take any old school of Frankie and DL...I'm willing to pay 2$ each or so for these, but not much more as I know how common and easy they are to get ahold of..thanks!!! :biggrin:

Customs / Issues with MLP hank of dollyhair being short
« on: June 14, 2017, 05:49:22 AM »
Mods, if this belongs somewhere else please feel free to move it :) *cross posted*

I recently ordered an MLP sized hank of Atomic Turquoise from dolly hair, to rehair a UK Good Weather. I finished the mane and found myself without enough to rehair the tail.

I have ordered MLP hanks from Dollyhair many times in the past and have had no problem completing a pony, so I was very surprised to have this issue. The only thing I can think is, when I ordered the color, the site warned me that Dollyhair was running low on that color, but it did not indicate it was  "out".

My main concern is that I was perhaps shorted some hair by mistake or sommething.

I have contacted dollyhair directly through the "contact me" link and its been over 3 business days waiting for a reply, that is why I am bringing this here...I am wondering if anyone else has had issues with their hanks coming up short or any suggestions?

I know the dollyhair owner is a reputable seller, but at this point I am pretty disappointed and perplexed as I have received no reply to my email. Ironically I did go ahead and order more Atomic Turqouise to finish the pony, and I received my "item sent" email for the order, so its especially disconcerting that my inquiry was ignored...

Thoughts anyone?

Off Topic / Dealing with the death of a good friend's parent
« on: September 21, 2016, 09:46:29 PM »
One of my friends that I have known since High school (over 25 years) just lost her mother (her dad died while we were in HS). I have been close to her and her mom for many years (I even called her Mom "Mom" because she was always so good to me).

Anyway, I'm having a hard time processing it, she was only 69 and died suddenly of a heart attack. My mom, is also 69, and  my only parent for all intents and purposes. I can only imagine how devastated my friend is. I only talked (and cried) with her over the phone briefly as she told me the news, but I felt so helpless and didn't know what to do for her but to say I was sorry and how much her mom meant to me too.

I  texted her after we hung up after I realized I should have offered to go over to her house, but she told me she was ok, she had family there and coming.

Anywho, we have plans to hang out on saturday will probably go to the movies. I want to make the day as easy as possible for her, but I'm not sure what to do because I feel so socially awkward sometimes and I'm worried how to handle the situation...Besides of course offering to pay for everything and just being a listening ear, can anyone else offer some advice on consoling someone who is now essentially an orphan? I'd Love to hear any past experiences folks have had dealing with grief or the loss of a parent, its a loss I can only imagine (I have lost my grandmother and my aunt and both events devastated me, so I have an idea, but nothing I believe close enough to this...)

So anywho just thoughts and support would be greatly appreciated...I decided post here rather than somewhere more public because I don't want to upset her by asking this advice more publically...Thanks for reading

I'm talking about the temporary tatoos that come with the Nocturnal and Mystical CaMs...I have tried multiple times to get them to stick and they seem to wipe off eventually no matter what, I tried modge podge, dura clear, etc etc...the only thing I haven't tried is clear nail polish...

Has anyone out there gotten their face or arm temp tattoos to stick to the dolls permanantly? I BARELY touch the dolls, and yet they still come off, the last thing I used was Dura Clear Gloss Varnish, and here's the results :(   :

I've gotten  back into customizing again lately, but I've just dipped my toes in so far...I've made little changes to some fakie shoes I got :
Orange ones are the "before" the white and gold and black and purple are the "afters" XD )

And to the Siren's belt

(sorry its blurry but most folks know whta the Siren's belt looks like)

Raven's headdress/diadem (from her Vanity playset)

And Darling's feather Barrette:

I'll add more pics here as I paint them, as I plan to continue customizing shoes and accessories for now...

Buy/Sell/Trades / Heftys Want List for the SunShower Swap
« on: April 27, 2016, 12:38:46 AM »
I absolutely LOVE homemade items, clothes, accessories, etc. for MH and EAH, they give so much character to dolls that are already overflowing with character!

I'm really digging the possible new MH fashion packs if they are out in time for this swap! I also would LOVE some new clothes for my Curvy Fashionista Barbies
 and here are just SOME of My fave Etsy shops:

Also feel free to check out my "redresses" thread for an idea of the type of clothes I like :,10812.0.html
***And I also need a BOYS outfit for my extra Puma CAM that I just picked up :) Barbies Room (above) has lots of boy clothes XD

I would love some new dangly earrings for my MH and EAH gals to wear...

I need a pair of wings (or 2) from Faybelle thorn)
Wings for ANY G2
Mega Blok smurfs

I also collect: Smurfs, MLP Customs from ANY generation, MLP G2 Babies,Equestria Girls (would love an outfit for one of my nudes) the new MH Mega Bloks from Dollar General (if you're not sure of these check out the Mega Bloks thread :D ), Justice League/Superfriends, She-Ra, anything 80s or doll related would fit in well with my collection!

As for extras/candies etc, I love anything glittery, rainbows, and for candy, I like ANYTHING chocolate (kit kats and Reeses are some faves) and I especially love white chocolate...I am NOT a fan of fruity or sour candies though...

~~~Also always on the lookout for extra MH shoes, especially originally made ones~~~
Off Topic / The "adult" coloring book craze: are you into it?
« on: April 26, 2016, 01:42:44 PM »
I keep seeing all these coloring books for adults when I shop online and I know its really popular right now, but I'm wondering, isn't all that intricate coloring sorta confusing? The designs they have in those books look SOOOOOO complicated to me, I don't know that I would enjoy them, and I think I'd rather just do kids coloring books, but I'm not a huge fan of using crayons and would prefer using colored pencils or markers, so I'm at a crossroads...would love to hear if any fellow MH/doll enthusiasts here are into the fad and if so share some of your pics completed works! Also what medium(s) do you use?? XD
I've commissioned another custom by Catwater, Gilda Goldstagg with color change hair, it goes from pink to white with heat, just by touching it!~ I'm not sure you can tell that much of a color difference in the photos, but IRL it is AWESOME!!!
EDIT (added pics back in with different formatting:
