Just got an email about Mattell's SDCC items:

  • Hot Wheels Star Wars X-Wing Dagobah Starship
  • Master Chief Collection
  • WWE Mr.T Elite Collection Action Figure
  • Pixar Alien Remix Pizza Plant Delivery Driver
  • Jurassic Park Barbasol Dennis Nedry
  • Hot Wheel Marvel Land Rover Defender 110 Pickup Truck with Hulk and Rocket

No mention of Monster High but I'm not sure if these items are just for 7/23/2020 or the whole of SDCC.

I think these are for the entire CC, I've been checking Mattel's instagram and also @mattelcreations and those were the only toys posted as 'exclusives' for this year...

Off Topic / Re: Doll things you've missed out on
« on: July 08, 2020, 10:14:25 AM »
Oh man! I hate missing out on doll deals..  I have 3 major deals that I remember the most, one was like back in 2016, I saw a BNIB I heart fashion Venus for like 25 dollars on Ebay, and I do not know WHY I didn't get it. I regret it to this day!

Also I missed out on a I heart fashion Wydowna (this must have been 2017 or 2016) at Toys R Us because I thought it would go cheaper, as it had been 50 euro, then 40 and then 30, but it sold out at 30 :(

And last but never least, the 2017 collectors Abbey, that was not a deal really, but the price was around 30 usd, and I thought it would not sell out as fast, and then... oh well.

I never had that happened to my Lagoonas too, and I have a bunch that are second hand. Maybe they were exposed to the sound and the vinyls dried up.

Yeah, I think it might be that! I'm just going to leave them as they are, hopefully they don't get worse!

Thanks!! The hot water idea sounds like its the solution! Will try

About the ears, I noticed it happened only to my second hand dolls so maybe they have been played with too much or in light exposure? No idea

So, I just bought a second hand Mad Science Lagoona, I want to wash her clothes and everything but I cannot remove her shoes!!!! I have tried several ways, could it be that the plastic has shrunk? Or is there a technique?

Also, I have noticed that in 2 or 3 old Lagoonas I've bought the very tip of her fin-ears is breaking... I wonder if that has happened to you too? I don't know how to fix it :(

Thanks!

We need Mattel insiders on this forum!!

Well, since SDCC is now cancelled, it is less likely they would launch the dolls!?

I get so excited when G. Sanders (i know he does not work for Mattel anymore) and specially @Rebecula13 post MH content on their IG accounts. Lately they have been posting lots of stuff and I always want fo think it's because something is up! But then again, this whole Toywiz thing just seems a mistake...

Youd have to drill or use tools to remove the knee and leg joints. They dont come out as easy and are made to not come out for most of the dolls. Also, Id like to suggest you get the CAM three eyed ghoul torso that comes with the replacement pack. Its a perfect shade but its up to you. If it were me Id drill and use hot glue to mold it in so theyd stay in better, but keeping the original legs is probably safer and will hold up long term. You can also pop open the hip joint at the seam and take the legs out to reuse, but then youd have to put it all back together without it looking weird.

Wow thanks so much!!! I will follow your advice, I don't have a drill and I would not want to risk the doll. I think I will just put on some leg warmers to hide lagoona's leg holes and that will be it!

Hi everyone,

I just got a brand new CAM three eyed ghoul and Harpy, and I already got the Operetta and 13 wishes lagoona to match them. My question is: can you remove the legs from the knees down? I tried pulling and adding hot water but I can't remove them! Should I just keep the original Lagoona and Operetta legs?

Thanks and sorry if this question has been posted before :)

The time when I put my scarah in goo gone for too long and the hair turned really bad texture and then I tried to dry it by putting her in front of my heater.. I smelt some goo gone in the air and I was like ugh, that stuff smells so bad then I realized it was really strong and realized her hair was burning! I took her away and cut all the burnt hair off and she looked like a karen... but anyways after that I rerooted her with some pink hair because I felt bad and she looked beautiful! Heres a pic:
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

OMG Scarah looks fantastic with pink hair!!!!!! I love it

Once I washed my Monster High clothes together, without putting a dye catcher in and my boy doll white socks came out pink.

Haha, this haappened to me with my own clothing once...

I just saw it. She basically talks about how the doll industry is dying, not only Mattel but in general and she was only excited about the new hairdorables. About MH she says she didn't see ANYTHING MH related and she talked to some Mattel employees/reps and they knew nothing about the collector dolls so... Its not happening basically...

Well, I dunno. I don't think "no news at Toy Fair" = "it's definitely 100% for sure fake"

Exactly.

If it's not supposed to be revealed yet, of course Mattel is going to be close-lipped about it.  We'll just have to wait and see.

I find it interesting that that youtuber thinks the doll industry is dying, because it seems to me that it's getting a revival after several years of good doll lines ending with not much that filled the gap.  But now there's LOL OMG, Hairmazing, Poopsie, NaNaNa Surprise, Boxy Girls, Snapstars, not to mention all the new diversity and articulation Mattel is stepping up their game with, plus there's the little unarticulated surprise dolls that are so popular.  For the last few years the Walmart toy section here has been making the doll area smaller and smaller, and I was thinking that fashion dolls were becoming passe for kids.  But now it's expanding again, and there are way more new doll lines than old ones ending.  So I don't really see how the doll industry is dying, though I have read that Mattel may not be in a great financial place in the near future depending how things go.  But Mattel isn't the only game, MGA is certainly charging forward.  What do I know though!  Just my 2 cents.

I kind of agree. I don't think its dying per se, I think the fashion dolls are not on trend anymore. I think she meant that the dolls coming out are not really of her interest because they are less detailed amd the approach is different from that of MH/EAH where there is a story, characters, waves, etc. I think they are simplifying the production and thats a bummer for collectors. Out of all the lines you mention I for instance, have zero interest and I believe that is the case for a lot of people...but that's just me! Also she said that the stands or whatever is called they had in toyfair for dolls particularly were smaller than previous years...

So, I thought we could share our mess ups for both a laugh and for preventive pruposes...

Today I decided to wash my fearleading squad Ghoulia sweatshirt (I got it at a 2nd hand app for 5 euro) because the sleeves where yellow and it smelled funny, I used soap and water only BUT the white and pink paint came OFF. Same on her socks! Im soooo bummed

Also, I once tried to blow dry my sig Rochelle hair (as I had seen people on youtube do it) and I BURNED half of her hair. She looked like a cotton candy mess. Oh dear... I got a BNIB months after...
