Off Topic / Re: What non-MH purchase did you recently make? 2.0
« on: February 15, 2017, 11:44:25 AM »
Five pairs of clip on earrings at a local Goodwill for $4 total. I got these nice twisted gold hoops with a flat silver tear shaped dangle in the center of the hoop, a pair of hot pink and gold button studs (which match a lot of the 80s themed jewelry I have), a pair of pearl studs, pair of green studs, and a pair of yellow studs. I also found baby yarn in the color I needed for my custom. Now I need double sided tape and some printer paper!

I mainly use the Barbie Accessories packs as small items for my Dreamhouse. The best ones are the Sushi pack which look great on the dining room table, the guitar/music pack which the guitar looks nice placed in the corner of a room and the makeup set with the bag and mirror which add a nice touch to the bathroom sink.

This one is all about Astra Nova at the end of BYBY and the apparent EAH connection. Why would the EAH characters not believe that MH existed especially since C.A. Cupid is a crossover character? You're telling me that Cupid just magically appears one day in a place where everyone literally knows each other and where they came from and don't ask questions about the girl who basically appeared from thin air even though she's been there for at least a year? You expect me to believe Cupid never talked about MH? I have what I think is a timeline proving that Cupid has been in the EAH universe for at least one year and how it correlates to her absence at MH using the movies and TV specials and diaries. Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love? happens during winter which we know the exact date as it is mainly focusing on Draculaura's Birthday which is Valentine's Day and Cupid has a major role in the plot. Next special was Skull Shores which happened during spring break, and then Friday Night Frights and Scaris occurs which is the last time we see Cupid at MH and they happened during the spring and possibly right before summer. Sometime in between spring and summer Cupid used the mirror to cross over to EAH and then 13 Wishes occurred during the fall at the start of a new school year which is about the same time Thronecoming occurred. Then in EAH Cupid was present for the Wonderland specials which were during the spring. Skip a couple of MH movies and we get to Boo York Boo York which according to the diaries happen during September which proves Cupid was in the EAH universe for an entire year pre-reboot. People there asked questions about the Evil Queen in her Mira Shards disguise but none about Cupid and Cupid never mentioned MH once? You really expect me to believe that even though Apple and Raven are friends with her? Astra Nova might have met Cupid somehow but that's iffy given how little we know about her and her history.

Curious to see what's happening with EAH, but mostly I'm interested in that Intergalactic Gala trademark.

I'm pretty sure that ended up being a DC Super Hero Girls line.

Or it could be a new line featuring Astra Nova. We don't know too much about her other than what is written in her diary and she has some sort of connection to Apple and Raven.

I also found a NIB First issue Bratz Cameron before.

I'm good now. Yeah I sort of play with dolls but it's more about using the special features such as talking to Hello Barbie or changing their looks whether it's hairstyle or clothing. I use my Dreamhouse more of a display and put the dolls as if they were just living a regular life. It's quite relaxing for me. I'm not really doing anything particularly odd and I don't play out soap operas with my dolls either. I would love to make YouTube videos similar to Sam and Mickey and have a recurring theme where Derek from the Rockers is a homage to Matt Folley an lives in a pink Barbie camper down by thee river and steals a family because he is so lonely.

Proper doll version of the female Pokémon main characters and Gym Leaders would be nice to see. Specifically Jessie and Lillie. And Mortal Kombat doll specifically the female ninjas (including Frost) and Sindel. Katana and Jade would look amazing and I'm sure they could make Sonya look great. Sheeva would be a bit difficult but if Mattel could give us Wydownna and Kala then I can't imagine Sheeva would be impossible to do.

Has anyone tried heating/adjusting doll stand to fit tighter/looser?

Lauren - it looks like those stands you get have little tabs in front, like to hold a display sign or something. Is that true?

Yes. They have these little plastic tab things that you can put a sign on and they can also be handy if you have a doll with a long dress you can tuck the hem in there to sort of disguise the base and keep the dress in shape.

This may seem off topic but it isn't. Do the sites where everyone are getting stands sell some for other types such as porcelain dolls or is it fashion dolls only? has a big range of stands from different sellers. Most of the top search results are for fashion dolls but if you look through the pages you will most likely find some porcelain doll stands/bjd stands. It's probably just a case of knowing your dolls measurements so you know what you want.

Here's a link to a listing of assorted size stands for porcelain dolls/teddy bears. If mixed is not what you're after the related listings should have what you're looking for.,searchweb201602_3_10065_10000073_10068_10501_10000074_10503_10000032_119_10000030_10000026_10000023_10000069_10000068_10060_10062_10056_10055_10000062_10054_10000063_10059_10099_10000020_10000013_10103_10102_10000016_10096_10000056_10000059_10052_10053_10107_10050_10106_10051_10000097_10000094_10000053_10000007_10000050_10084_10083_10000100_10119_10080_10000047_10082_10081_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_10115_10000041_10000044_10078_10079_10000038_10073_10000035_10122_10123_10120_10121_10124-10503_10501_10119,searchweb201603_7,afswitch_1_afChannel,ppcSwitch_3,single_sort_1_default&btsid=533f088a-c97d-4a82-9513-8a18587bc4e3

Thanks. I mostly need some for ones about 16-18 inches, a couple for 26-30 inches, and one for a 42 inch doll. I'll look into getting some after I move.

I guess that you could make a custom Amy doll by taking a Blossom doll and adding glasses. But the cast of BBT need dolls. I'd also love to see a collectors doll of Ginger and Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island, The Jetsons, Saturday Night Fever John Travolta, Elphelba and Glinda from Wicked, and Storm, Jean Grey/Phoenix, Psylocke, Rogue, and Mystique from X-Men.

I have a few. I'd love to see doll versions of Penny, Amy, and Bernadette from Big Bang Theory, Pharoh from BYBY, Barbie's Grandma from A Puppy Chase (which is still a bit odd that a grandparent is shown but still no parents, not even in the pictures Barbie looks at), Charlotte La Bouff from The Princess and the Frog, and a proper Cruella De Ville as seen in the animated film.

Rhana - Do you have any trouble with dolls being too tall for that shelf? Like say Casta or Vandala on their stands? I'm not sure who the tallest normal-size ghoul is right now.

Ehh, I don't have either, but Neightan is my tallest doll, and he fits fine, there's a lot of room above his head. :)

Tallest normal sized doll I think is Marisol. I know she is one of the taller dolls. Goolopie is definitely the largest in general but that's a given.

As a four year old my cousins had the MLP Castle Playset that had the draw bridge and original Spike. I played with it because it was a toy. But then my sister and cousins basically took it away from me and made me stop playing with them because they were girls' toys. It's not like I was doing anything out of the ordinary. I was making up stories where the Ponies married each other (I didn't understand what that was or that the Ponies were all female) and I often made them sing songs on a stage like I saw on tv. I wasn't having tea parties with them and I still don't understand what the big deal was. I was just imitating everyday life as I saw it on tv. And then I was allowed to play with Ken dolls but not Barbies and I wanted a Barbie so I could have Ken be married and have a family. My sister said no and told me to pretend that another Ken was "Barbie" which is probably something you shouldn't tell a six year old to do. And she wondered why the Kens shared a bed and why I was constantly marrying them. It may sound cute but I think that disturbed my family more than if I had a Barbie. It was even more disturbing that I kept putting a small toy under the Ken's shirt to make him pregnant.

Clawdeen's Closet / Re: Ironing doll clothes - how do you do it?
« on: February 11, 2017, 10:21:51 PM »
I have never tried to iron doll clothes before but I would like to use a handheld steamer. The Doll Care Tip sheet that come in NIB Goebel dolls suggest using one for getting wrinkles out. If I get one, how would I use it and would I need to remove the clothing to do so? I don't have room for an ironing board.

Okay. Thanks. The reason I asked is that the outfit I'm recreating is mostly paper and the wearer had this paper flower that served as both a wig and a hat. If you watch Rupaul's Drag Race, you'd understand what I mean.

I don't need a wig cap for my project because the head will be mostly covered by paper. I only need yarn for the front of the face.

I'm going to use yarn for my own custom but don't need a full wig. Can I glue it on paper? I basically need it to be about Bob length and the hair only needs to be in front.

Beach themed Draculaura dolls before G2's explaination of how she could go out in the sun, Gil's parents still disliking Lagoona even though they met her and liked her when she was a fresh water ghoul, that Operettais a Ghost even though the actual Phantom of the Opera was a human and that Toralei was hanging out by the pool with Clawdeen during the totally unrelated trailer for Great Scarrier Reef when it is well known that they hate each other. And then there's the whole Vampire's Heart being inside Robecca. Draculaura must have seen Robecca in pieces and must have seen the Heart at Some point. She knew what it looked like in FCA and should have recognized it immmediately.

Actually, there is a teeny-tiny detail in G1 that explains how Draculaura survives sunlight: her original Gloom Beach doll came with a bottle of sunscreen with a rating of SPF1000 (or some similarly ridiculous number). XD

As for Gil's parents... Well, there's a simple but very sad reason why they continued to dislike Lagoona, even after they had met (and liked) her as a freshwater monster... They're just prejudiced. They never did care about who she was as a person... only that she "wasn't like them". When she went back to being a saltwater monster, they went back to disliking her. :(

Is that the same bottle of sunscreen that comes with her other swim line doll, Beach Beasties, just in different color? It's SPF 500 and I love that detail. Even the cap of it is skullette shaped!

I kind of want a swim line Toralei or another werecat now, after seeing this thread. Yeah, they don't like water, the werecats, but I guess they could tag along with the others to sunbathe.

Well they had Swimsuit Rochelle so Toralei and the Twins wouldn't be out of place.

I still think it's really funny that they had a movie about ghosts, then a movie about mermaids and Sirena was invited to neither of those adventures.

Sirena was in the first half of Haunted. She went to the Ghost world the first time but not the second.

Another odd thing is how Invisibilly can make his clothes disappear when he turns invisible given that's not what happens in other portrayals. And then there's the whole Frankie paradox thing in Freaky Fusion. If Frankie inspired Sparky to make Frankie's parents then where did the original Sparky get the idea to do it before the paradox started? Every movie, tv show, and book involving time travel has the same paradox that if you mess something up n the past then you alter history as you know it in an often disastrous way.
