Monster Discussion / Draculaura ID?
« on: May 06, 2018, 06:31:47 PM »
I had gotten this Draculaura in an ebay lot a few years back and I've finally dug her out of storage..but I can't seem to ID her?

I'm pretty sure the only Lalas with bangs and straight down hair were Gloom Beach (and Killer Style), Boo York, and the Die-ner doll, but her makeup doesn't match any of those?

Sales / Fuzz's Sales *UPDATE* 3/5 - GB Jackson, NIB Collector Skelita
« on: June 07, 2017, 09:27:26 PM »
I am located in the US, payment via Paypal, tracking is free. Trades accepted. I am in the process of taking photos for everything, feel free to ask; additional photos upon request. Some dolls may be pre-loved and need some TLC, any major defects are noted.  Please include zip code for shipping calculations.

I've unfortunately fallen out of love with MH and toy collecting in general, and no longer have the display space I used to, but I am still very attached to most of my dolls! Over the next few months I'll be trying to clear up some of my storage space and getting rid of dolls I'm not 100% in love with. I've reduced prices on what was already here. If any of my photos aren't visible any more let me know and I'll replace them (thanks photobucket).

Update 3/5: Added GB Jackson, Silvi, 3 nude dolls, mini loopsy, mcd pokemon

Monster Discussion / Re: Monster High Minis Discussion

It's now been 6 months since a new wave came out, yet they continue to roll out the product photos? This long break is so weird with how fast they were releasing them at first. There's at least 4 or 5 waves worth of unreleased minis at this point? This is so odd!

Customs / How to keep metallics...metallic?
« on: April 01, 2017, 08:10:47 PM »
I recently bought Testors Metallic Silver and used it for two things: Painting MH fingernails, and painting a pair of MH shoes. I don't usually seal when I paint nails, and sure enough, the silver also stuck quite nicely to the plastic. However, the shoes...I noticed immediately the paint did not want to stick to them, wipes off like it's still fresh even if I let it sit a few days, ended up making a huge mess and had to start over, tried sealing with a light coat of MSC, helped a little, touched it up, did a heavy coat, and it worked, but the silver now looks very grey.

Should I be using a brush-on sealant instead? Would doing a base coat of MSC before hand help the paint stick without sealing? Would putting a gloss over the top bring back the sheen? I don't really want a glossy look, just to have that beautiful metallic. Experienced painters, please help!

Monster Discussion / Re: Area availability
« on: February 25, 2017, 01:12:04 PM »
I live in MT but I'm a truck driver, so I end up in stores all over the west, occasionally midwest, although I don't shop in Cali. Stores over here have tons of Electrified, WTMH, Emoji, tons of budgets, trying to sale out Shriek Wrecked, I've seen a few Party Hair Lalas and I haven't seen Music Cleo since xmas (when I first spotted her, no Ari tho). I have yet to see the Party Ghouls, Sports, Clawd two-pack, the W2 sigs, or any new EAH (most stores only have a few left from last year they are trying to get rid of, or no EAH at all). Also note, some stores no longer have minis, and when they do they are Series 1.

Terrible distribution meant they were htf from the get-go. I personally never saw this line in stores.

Monster Discussion / Re: Collecting majorities?
« on: January 23, 2017, 07:48:15 PM »
Most of one character:
Last time I counted, it was a tie between Clawdeen and Frankie

Most from any line:

Gloom Beach (complete set of 6), also I <3 Fashion although Scarah was second-hand and has barely any of her stuff

Most multiple copies of one doll?
I have two of several (second-hand saves that are getting sold, fixed, or customed) and two Gloom Beach Frankies (I bought a second bc my first one had to have her hair removed the glue was so bad, so I got a second to hold her shelf space while I rehaired the first, the second also got the glue bad and now they are BOTH in a box waiting to be rerooted)

Most of a release format? (Standard, slim-box, multipack, etc.)

Standard, definitely

Most of any kind of touch-up work/customizing?

Manicures! I love painting their nails.

Most bought in one day?

I got a giant eBay lot of 26 MH + 3 Barbies. Of course none of them had shoes, half of them were missing limbs, and nobody was wearing the right clothes. As far as new in-box purchases, 5 via one of the 5-packs.

Off Topic / Re: Do you have a smart phone?
« on: January 18, 2017, 12:48:34 PM »
For years I stuck with my 'dumb' phone and had zero interest in getting a smart phone, but at some point it actually became cheaper with my plan to get a smart phone and now I'll never go back. It's far too convenient to be able to access the internet and have GPS when and where ever you need it. Especially now that I work on the road, it is pertinent that I can look up traffic, weather, and stop locations and be able to read messages from my satellite feed without having to be in my truck, not to mention the unlimited entertainment it provides with videos, games, and books without having to take up space in my truck with more stuff.

Monster Discussion / Re: Monster High Minis Code Guide

I have added missing 157-158 codes for Series 1 Wave 1 (I got Catty finally!). I am expecting Series 2 Wave 2 to start showing up any day now.

Monster Discussion / Re: How is MH Doing? Popularity, Sales, Overall, etc.
« on: December 23, 2016, 01:02:33 AM »
It's been a pretty steady decline, I think. More dolls sit than last year, which was more than the year before, etc. All of the reboot dolls seem to be sitting, fully stocked, full price, not moving. GSR is also warming the shelves, despite the initial popularity when it first came out, I think they just made too much stock and nobody wants to clearance them yet. The minis seem to be selling well everywhere and I think I missed my chance to get the huge Skelita (All the stores had tons of stock and I knew nothing else was moving, but I only saw her around for about a week and then GONE).

This years online sales were the steepest I've ever seen for newer dolls, I mean, 50-60% off dolls that have only been out a few months? Something about it seems planned to me, might explain the REAL reason behind why the reboot dolls are such cheap junk.

I think it comes down to a combination of Mattels waning creativity with the brand, budget cuts resulting in less appealing dolls, the original target demographic aging out, and the gigantic popularity of blind-bag toys. Dolls and action figures don't seem to be doing too well in general lately (I say this also as a Transformers collector).

Monster Discussion / Re: Body Parts and Broken bodies
« on: December 22, 2016, 06:33:06 PM »
I either find replacement parts for them, use them FOR replacement parts, or rebody them. I'm sure if you ask around there are plenty of folks looking for or looking to get rid of extra parts. As for what to do with the bodies that have been stripped of usable parts, I haven't found a use yet, they sit in the parts box, possibly for future custom experimentation.

Monster Discussion / Re: Monster High Minis Discussion
« on: December 07, 2016, 10:39:04 PM »
Halloween minis have appeared at Spokane (Sprague) Walmart. I was recently at the valley Walmart and they didn't have them, but did have several boxes of W4. I picked up a set for myself, there are still plenty left. If anybody wants me to pick some up for them I will be back in the area around the 23rd. Plenty of Frankie and Clawdeen, I had to do quite a bit of sifting to find Skelita, so no guarantees.

Clawdeen's Closet / Re: Will these fit Gooliope?
« on: November 28, 2016, 10:47:15 PM »
I recently asked this same question after momdusa got the rain jacket and showed a few pics of the regular sized ghouls wearing it. Here it is on Goo. It fits fairly well!

Monster Discussion / Re: MHA Eye Wonk Discussion Thread
« on: November 26, 2016, 11:47:06 PM »
I had an awful time finding Avea without wonk, finally found one, bought her, brought her home, and noticed....her HAIR was rooted crooked. Her widow's peak was way off to the side and she had hair rooted thru her ear! Luckily I noticed before I unpackaged her and immediately found the perfect one on my return trip. Guess I was paying so much attention to her eyes that I missed it. lol

I never did find a Sweet Screams Draculaura without wonk. I must have searched through 50+ boxes and they were all laughably bad.

I recently got GSR Toralei online and yep, she looks like all the others posted here, with the one eye floating up and away. =/

All the boys tend to get it bad, I think it's because of the smaller eyes/bigger head thing makes it more obvious.

I tend to get really picky about wonk (I'm the one digging through every doll on the shelf to find the perfect one), even the littlest amount will drive me mad, but I found if I end up with one on an online purchase and just let it sit in box where I can see it, I eventually soften up and decide it isn't that bad.

Apart from redressing and restyling hair, I paint the nails and toenails (if they show) on my dolls, it's something small but I feel it adds a lot. I've also fixed messy paint jobs on some accessories, and added to others. I buffed out the seams on one or two of them, and removed many 'skin tags' that kitty and puppy ears get when the factory pierces them.
