Title: I think MH is done
Post by: RochelleGoyleFanatic on November 05, 2018, 11:00:19 AM
I think they have stopped production, but we'll have to wait until next year til they give an official statement like with EAH.
I still lurk here hoping something will have changes, but alas... it's the end of an era.

It's been done for a long time, really.

I think they are just waiting until after what's currently in the pipeline is out. I have seen some things pop up here and there that wasn't there before but it is all stuff that's already been available other places for a while.

Technically speaking, the entire line started to die a long and painful death as soon as the atrocious G2 started in Spring 2016. The best thing to do right now would be to officially pull the plug, out of mercy. And hope that eventually, G3 could happen, with MH getting its former glory back. Too many characters have gone missing and they need to come back too.

I don't think so. I swear I saw somewhere it was under canceled content, but I don't remember where I saw the info.

yeah, the line is toast, but Mattel is doing that weird corporate thing where they pretend it isn't so they don't have to answer to angry shareholders over how a billion-dollar franchise just got axed. So they'll pop out a book or two in the next year, pretending things are still going on, at which point they'll probably finally admit it now that everyone's been quiet on the line for a year or two. It's the same thing we saw with Ever After High and Disney Fairies (over at Disney).

G1 MH has tons of dolls and probably tons she doesn't have yet so maybe you can get those for her instead of G4.  You can check amazon or ebay it's what I do. :)

I feel like Mattel should have just left MH alone after G1 was over.  It was sad to see it go but at least it didn't die out like G2 did.  That was just shameful.

Yeah it was just sad to watch. I knew it was going down, but I didn't wanna believe it. I just started collecting Monster High minis, but when their stuff was completely off the shelves (at least in stores around me) I knew it was basically gone.

But hey, a sliver of hope is telling me they're going to reboot again with G3 or whatever and it'll be all fine and dandy lmao

I don't believe G3 is going to happen any time soon. Or that it ever happen at all. MH is deader than a zombie can be.

I boxed up all of my dolls yesterday to put them out of my head for a bit. I'll possibly put them back on display in my sewing room if I ever get it straightened up, but I was just too over staring at them.

I'll keep customising the dolls I have in progress, but there are so many dolls that were just standing on the shelves and it filled me with anxious dread.

They've got some truly original, creative & beautiful designs. I've bought a few in the past. However, I'm a bit disappointed that many of the outfits are actually a tube dress, with a skirt (and other clothing articles) that can be put over it. I'd prefer if they were actually one-pieces. Also, the majority of those dresses are really tight, which tends to press the doll's legs together and makes it difficult for poses.

MH needs a longer hiatus before any kind of reboot if it is ever going to work again. But I will be more interested to see whether it ends up a collectable in the vein of G1 MLP in the future...maybe it will, if it isn't forced into being something else. I feel G2 forced it to become something it wasn't, and so it couldn't really survive.

It died in the UK and probably Europe a long time ago, a lot of the last several releases the US maybe had we didn't get, so as far as I am concerned it was pretty much dead since 2017 here. But taking Ghoulia out of the franchise killed it for me. Once I got the last G1 doll I really wanted (GnB Jin), I was done.

I would like it to generate a future collector aura like G1 MLP, from the kids who grew up with it reaching adulthood and making it so, not just adult collectors...but I guess we'll see.

It has now been over 13 months since we saw the first promo pics for the Howling Hoodies and Ghostly Tea Party lines.... and still nothing. Time to face the truth: MH is dead. Truly dead. Just breaks my heart.
