Customs / Re: Show me your Custom Face Ups!

I haven't painted it yet, because I'm still waiting on my first dolls to ship to me, so technically this doesn't count... But here's a faceup mockup. :P

Getting my color palettes and layout all figured out in photoshop on top of blank doll photos helps me a lot.

Monster Discussion / Re: Repairing dry doll hair?
« on: July 24, 2013, 03:05:53 AM »
Use hair conditioner! Most any conditioner that moistens real hair can do great things for synthetic as well. Give it a wash, brush through a good amount of conditioner and let it sit for a while, then wash it out. Easy! I like to use leave-in spray conditioner afterward, too, just to give it an extra moisture seal.

For re-waving her hair, get it wet with warm water, then curl bunches of it around straws and fasten with bobby pins or clips, like this:

(I like to wrap strips of paper towel around the hair first before clipping it, which helps keep the hair together)

Let it get bone-dry for at least 24 hours, then remove the straws. They'll likely be way too tight, so lightly mist them with water and brush them gently, and they should make nice wavy curls. ^.^ You could also loosely braid her hair while wet, then let them dry and that'd made waves, but I think that would produce a bit too crimpy of a style, compared to how she looks out-of-box...

Good luck with styling!

Oh gosh, thanks for the welcomes, everyone! <3 I've already picked up a couple dolls from the Sales forum on here to get started on customizing - a Ghoulia and Operetta. To pass the time while they're shipping, I've been checking out the webisodes... What a fun series! I can see why this is all super addicting now, haha! :dazed:

Monster Discussion / Re: Monsterfied first names?

My name's Miles, so...

Viles - something gross, maybe a slime/goo monster or guts-coming-out guro thing.
Vials - a mad scientist
Gargiles - gargoyle monster
Chamo-Miles - a plant monster? Tea or flower themed.
Beguiles - a witch!

Of those I think I'd go with Chamo Miles, since it suits me the most... a flowery tea plant monster, and if the first name is Chamo, they could have some invisibility or instant-camouflage ability, kinda like an octopus... but with plants.

This slant rhyme dictionary really helps me think up stuff like this, by the way... Try it out with your name! ;)

Hi there! I'm Silky or Mumbles/Mimblex or Miles (or SilkSpindle on the MLP arena... too many online nicknames, haha!). Decided to join the forum after gaining some interest in MH customs, since I've been doing MLP customs and rehairs for a while... some of which you can see on my Flickr here. c:

I'm 24 and currently living in Redmond, WA (close to Seattle). I've been really into other custom dolls in the past, including BJDs, Blythe, and Bratz (waaaay back when, like early high school... My first custom toys, they were awful, lol)

I don't have any MH dolls yet, but I'd like to get some from users here as customization bait! I can't wait to do some rehairs!
