Wanted / Re: Looking for Project Mc2 Dolls...
« on: November 13, 2017, 08:18:14 PM »
I'm going to Smyths tomorrow to get a Funko POP! Flocked Funtime Foxy, I can look for you? I'm in the UK!

EDIT: They have some of the ones you're looking for, ghoulfriend, online at least! https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/fashion-and-dolls/c/SM060104?q=%3AukBestsellerRating%3Abrand%3AProject+Mc2%C2%A0&text=

Thankyou very much! Yikes, the ones on the Smyths site are expensive though, $43 AUD! I guess I'll have to keep watching to see if they ever go on sale, haha, so you won't have to bother looking for me as I assume they'll be the same price instore  ^^;

These dolls are so beautiful  :freak:
I've seen the blue dress girl at my Walmart for awhile. Should go on sale soon. Also if you have adreinne's gummies maybe we can swap?

That sounds great, thankyou for looking out for me, haha! Sadly Adrienne's Gummies is a part of the formal wave (wave 3 I think) so it never got released here so I don't think I'll be able to swap :cry:

Wanted / Looking for Project Mc2 Dolls...

(x-posted on the MLP Arena)
Hey, so uh, this might be a stretch but I'm looking for Project Mc2 dolls  :P
Here in Australia we only got the first 1 1/2 waves before retailers decided to no longer stock them, and I'm just drooling over the new masquerade line...  :blush:
If someone in the US could help me find them that would be great, as they're ridiculously overpriced online and the Aussie dollar is pretty weak atm. I'm primarily looking for these two (Ember being my #1 priority, she's gorgeous!) ;

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Although if you can find these guys for cheaper than retail price (like on sale) I'd be interested too;

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I don't mind if they're second-hand, as long as they're not in terrible shape and have all their outfit pieces, and I don't mind whether they have their experiments/combs or not, it's just the dolls I'm after, haha.
I don't currently have the funds, but I will soon, as my birthday /christmas is in a month and everyone gives me money as they have no idea how to pick out dolls for me  ^.^

Thanks for reading! :love:

Ever After High Discussion / Re: Stuff you'll miss about Ever After High
« on: October 31, 2017, 11:24:01 PM »
I'll miss the subverted expectations. When I first saw Darling's doll, I instantly dismissed her as a stereotypical marketing ploy "focus group" doll that was pandering to the consumer by hitting every item on the "pretty" checklist. Then I found out who she really was and that even her dress was armor, and now I adore her. Dragon Games Darling is one of my favorite dolls.

I'm going to miss the fact that because the main characters are princesses and fairytale characters, Mattel was bending over backwards to prove that they were "more than looks". They really did everything they could to stomp on every single stereotype and expectation about the girls being pretty princess damsels, and that was great because that made it "ok" for certain people who like fashion dolls but don't want to perpetuate... you know, the stuff that used to go along with it.

I'm really sad that we never got to see the ridiculously named Mattressina Peaprincess doll or character. I would have bought her just for the name. People laughed at her when we saw the trademark, but if we knew what was in store for EAH, I think we would have embraced her with open arms.

I wish we'd have gotten a Sparrow doll. I'm going to miss him. He was so funny.

Mattressina was an April Fools Day prank and not a real trademark from memory, so we wouldn't have gotten her either way :cry:

Wow, thanks for the kind words!  If you need any advice working on your own customs, please let me know!  I love all the talented customizers on this board!

No problem - thankyou so much for the offer!  :blush:
I'm not quite at the stage of creating my customs just yet, super nervous about trying a repaint, but I'll be sure to contact you when I make that plunge, haha  ^^;
Also Dracula looks AMAZING now, very regal like he should be, love it!

I just love admiring your work! :love:
Factory-look customs are pretty much the only kind of customs I like, so your thread is like eye candy to me, haha.
I'm trying to work up the courage to start on a few factory-look customs as well, though it's probably going to take me a while before I get as good as you, keep up the AWESOME work! :biggrin:

Did anyone see this one? It seems to have a worm print... Ghoulia/Moanica? The colours don't seem to match either of them though :blink:

Daughter of The Missouri Monster, Missy Momo is a girly ghoul who's somewhat self-conscious about her, erm, peculiar odour, but luckily her lil' puppy Butch doesn't seem to mind <3

Not familiar with the source material, but I like the rockabilly result. Good work, Crystal.

Thankyou so much! I'm glad you like it! :D

Here's two more ghouls of mine, both Japanese monsters :)

Masami Kiru is the Daughter of The Kuchisake-Onna (Slit-Mouthed Woman) and, obviously, enjoys ganguro fashion - although it's a little hard to tan when you're undead ;)

Daughter of the Teketeke, Rei Kashima isn't the nicest ghoul but she's a stubbornly loyal friend if she does happen to like you.

Another MHOC, Peggy-Boo Phantasm is a little ghost ghoul who draws inspiration from the tale of the vanishing/phantom hitchhiker :)

I'd totally be down for just buying a bunch of heads, regardless of condition. I like to practice more extreme custom techniques on them  ^^;
Unfortunately I'm broke at the moment  :blush:

Pretty sure the Ghoulia is fake  :huh:
I did some reverse google image searching to see if I could find an version of the picture that wasn't cropped, and I found this

Yeah, comparing the two, the hair's an exact match (strands, how it's lying, etc) so photoshopped. Pretty good job though - I wonder if they lifted the face from another reboot doll or free-handed it over top? If it's the latter (though I feel it isn't) that's some serious talent  ^^;

Decided to do my own designs for the MH ghouls, my own personal take on what a reboot would look like if I was in charge... Anyway, here's Frankie and Watzit <3

Aww, thanks! Mangle is one of my best designs thus far, I think :blush:

Monster Discussion / Re: Lots of Looks Draculaura
« on: March 16, 2017, 07:06:48 AM »
I think I might be the exception who isn't a fan of this doll. :(

The items just look cheap to me, especially compared to the ILF releases (excluding Whisp's, but that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish I could fry). I'm really getting tired of Mattel just saying "oh, here's a printed knit, let's throw an overlock hem on it" for items. If it's once in a while, that's fine, but there's so many pieces in this set that they could have finished more neatly with a proper hem, and they just didn't bother (eg: her tops, the little shorts).

I'm also a little sad that half the set seems to be a dumbed down rehash of past designs. The shorts-and-suspenders set looks like a weak version of her newspaper club outfit. Suspenders and shorts, but no sleeves, no finished hems, no cute tights, and a bunch of recast pieces. It also slooks like the top and shorts might be a single piece, rather than a combo? But that's hard to say when the doll is dressed instead of showing them laid flat.

Long story short, I feel like this is a better direction than they've been going, but it still feels really, really uninspired and lazy compared to what I used to expect.

Same here! I'm also not a fan for pretty much the same reason :/
Unless you squint, those could be Barbie clothes and I doubt anyone would notice, as they're pretty much lacking the 'monster' motif/patterns, and going for a more generic look.
I get that some people want to be able to make outfits work between multiple characters, but I'm a fan of very character-specific outfits myself, it's what separated MH and, say, Barbie/Bratz in my mind, the fact that the clothes didn't work for certain characters  ^^;
Also, these just look so cheap - like the rickrack belt on Frankie and the super-obvious overlocked hems makes me think more of bootleg MH dolls than something I'd see on an official release  :(

Catrine's Art Studio / Re: Offering traditional OC art
« on: March 12, 2017, 11:58:26 PM »
That's so nice of you to offer! I wish I hadn't stopped doing traditional art, my skills have degraded significantly :/
Would you be able to draw Winnie (in her basic outfit)? She's the daughter of Wendigoes (thus she loves eating - she's a food blogger!) and her arms are skeletal up to the elbows ;)
