Off Topic / Re: What do you have planned for New Year's Eve?
« on: December 30, 2017, 03:16:43 PM » "other" option?  We are gong to my in-laws to hang out and play games, drink, and celebrate my gramma-in-laws birthday.  This is of course after my in-laws take her to a casino.  Hopefully, we will play some fun adult party card games like Dirty Old Maid and Go Fish Yourself.  Maybe go in their hot tub or sing some karaoke at the bar down the street.  LOL, ok so half of that probably won't happen but options I guess.

These are all good tips.  Thank you everyone for taking the time to post.  Yeah, most of my MH collection is on display right now, but I think that I need a break from them right now.  They have lost some magic at the moment with the reboot and reduced line that we now have.  Figure that it is just time to pack them away for a bit and enjoy my ponies more instead.

How does everyone store their dolls?  I have used wine boxes in the past with separators but that takes up so much room.  I worry about dye bleeds and squashed hair styles.  I really need a more efficient way to store them than wine boxes.  Any ideas?  Right now most of my dolls are displayed but I plan to take them down for awhile to display some of my MLP.

I have one but have not used it for a few years due to lack of space.  I used it mainly for scrap booking and paper crafts.

Then the people at the court ground mentions some traditions. "Rolling the lefsa" is what I think I heard someone of them say and I honestly dont know what that means... Either the english butchered the pronunciation or its something from one of the other holidays near xmas...

Lefse or ˈlefsə: a Norwegian flatbread, made from leftover mashed potatoes, butter, flour, and cream. It is rolled very thin and then very carefully (because it can tear easily) cooked on both sides on a spacial kind of large electric griddle that I cannot remember the name of. We just always called it the Lefse grill. We then spread butter and sprinkle sugar on it (and cinnamon if you are like my aunt), roll or fold it up, slice it, and eat it. My grandparents were from Norway, so this was a staple every Christmas Eve. Well most special occasions if I am honest, my family loves Lefse.

Side note, you can spread other things on it too, like jam or nutella, or sausage and eggs, but we always do the butter and sugar.

Lefse is a big deal on the eastern end of ND.  I haven't learned to make it yet, but many of mine and my husband's family make it.  I used to get so bummed that I could never find it in CO when I lived there.  No one knew what it was.  My ex-husband's family thought it was weird when I brought it my last Christmas with them.  Only one of about 15-20 people would try it.  I tried to describe it to them with no avail.  I said that it's basically a potato tortilla.

We always do butter and sugar also.  My brother will occasionally do peanut butter.  I never thought to do Nutella.  That would probably be really good.

I was St Lucia for our class when I was in 2nd grade because I was the oldest girl in my class.  I was so excited because I felt like Kirsten Larson from the American Girl historical characters.

It sucks that they are removing this short.  I have been wondering where I could see it.  I think that I would likely go to see Coco for this short, more than the actual movie.

Does anyone here use any of these money saving apps?  I just signed up for Paribus but am still a little leery of it. I like Ibotta. I have been using that fir awhile. It's hit and miss with Ebates as I forget to check it and go through their site to shop. Tell me about your experiences, especially with Ebates and Paribus.

Sightings / Re: TARGET: Finds & Sales

Just be careful when getting the clearance Electrified dolls, I found two Ari's and one was marked down to $4.48 and one was marked down to $7 and some change.

Even though the stickers are different they still should ring up the same. Usually just that some get missed with the next new sticker price. I have bought clearance items there and been pleasantly surprised when they ring up for less than marked. I usually use the in-store price scanners now before buying. Only use your phone app to see if it's cheaper online for price matching.

The UPCs that you use are very helpful and using it to make a Pinterest list!

I went to a Walmart in another city and the had like 7-10 slim box budget dolls squished on a shelf and that was it. This was after the reset too.
This is exactly how my local store is now set up, too.

Our newer Walmart finally reset and they have those cheap molded budget dolls, the bus, Dracul family playset, leftover Electrified regular boxed dolls reduced to $14.88 and spots for the family sets and the little sisters. I wonder if Walmart will drop MH next year like they dropped EAH. Our Target also dropped it.

Monster Discussion / Re: Family Sets and the Clawd/Clawdeen 2 pack
« on: August 12, 2017, 07:12:45 AM »
I saw the other little sisters at Walmart. I almost bought Pawla but no matter how cute her face and hair, I just can't get over how ridiculous her limbs look with big feet and hands and stick limbs. Make me think of trying to draw people and you end up drawing the hands huge because you didn't plan for the details of the hands. Fangelica is a no ank Ebbie(?) aas just meh. I wanted to like her but I am just not a huge fan if the mermaid bodies.

Target had more out too. I so wanted to like Lagoona and Kelpie but they just don't grab me. Lagoona's eyes looked even bigger than usual and Kelpie wasn't enough to buy the set. I do like the highlights in Cleo's hair and her face up but her siblings are meh.

MH's shelf space is shrinking here too.  Our older Walmart finally started the reset and it was only a couple shelves and most of the dolls already there were the cheap slim box ones like the cheer dolls and the ones that they made before that. EAH is gone from both Target and Walmart.  Target's MH section is bigger than that of Walmart's and seems like it will have more newer products.

Out Target had the little sister singles, Drac family playset, Cleo and siblings, and the Cleo sibling singles-baby with highchair, etc. No Clawdeen and crew as yet. I am not sure but I am fairly underwhelmed with these...the quality is just found wanting in general. I really don't need the Dracul family. I don't need another boring Lala and Dracula is certainly not doing anything for me.

Monster Discussion / Re: How has your monster collection evolved?
« on: July 19, 2017, 10:12:45 AM »
I was never huge into fashion dolls growing up.  I had a few Barbies and playsets but they didn't really keep my interest all that well. I still have most of the dolls and some accessories. My main doll interests laid with AG, baby dolls my dollhouse, and MIB Disney dolls. However, MH changed that big time.

When they first came out in 2010 I would see them in passing without paying much attention as I was focused on the reboot MLP. Then 2011-2012 I took more notice due to signature Nefera and fast forward to over 200 dolls displayed in our bedroom. I love the daughter/son of *blank* monster concept. I have mostly been buying what I like rather than being the "gotta catch 'em all" type. I admit now that there have been some that I didn't really click with and need to sell. With the end of G1 and the start of G2, I have become more selective in my MH purchases, making sure that I really want what I buy and passing on those that are more "meh". This is especially due to the decline in quality and creativity. Cleo is still my main ghoul, especially with G2.

EAH grabbed my attention when it first came out due to MH and the tie-in to fairytales (huge Disney fan). I liked pairing the daughters with their Disney "parents".  However, now I have pretty much given up on it due to uninspired dolls, cheap clothing and accessories, and overall disinterest in the line at this point.

Off Topic / Re: Reboots, Remakes, and Revivals oh my!

I haven't been following this thread really, but I saw Wonder Woman with my dad and sister the other day. My dad's a Wonder Woman fan but he thought it was too long (old man lol), but my sister and I LOVED it! Soon as the credits started to roll my sister turned to my dad and said "THAT WAS SO GOOD!"

Of course some jackass spoiled the ending in a comment thread of a meme page I follow on FB (of all the places, right??) but I still enjoyed the ride. :)

My new life goal is to someday be as hot as Gal Gadot
She sure is kickass isn't she?! Girl crush lol. I can't wait to see it. Hopefully tomorrow we'll go.

Another remake...The Mummy, again. I love the remake with Brendan Fraiser and have not seen good reviews online about this newest one.

I have been pretty skeptical the last few years where toys have been concerned. Remade LPS were a letdown with their bobble heads. I liked Puppy/Kitty in My Pocket better then too. Some things I wish I would've jumped on when they were remade like PJ Sparkles and Cupcake Dolls. It amazesme that Teddy Ruxpin is/has made a comeback, at least I thought so.
