Customs / Body Dyeing

I've found very little information on it, but has anyone tried Rit Dye to color change a doll? The method seems to have mixed results, but as I'm not quite ready to invest in an airbrush, I think it's a viable option through trial and error. Additionally, no chipping (wooh!).

I have a bait Skelita with a broken neck peg that I wanted to experiment on. I figure she'll be the easiest since most of her body seems to be made of the same sort of soft plastic.

Any other methods you guys have found to work? Spray paint isn't an option for me as I live in an apartment, but I'm willing to try different things.

I tend to only store away second hand bait dolls. Currently using a little bucket/bin and a magazine holder. I do make sure I undress them and the dolls with hair I don't want to ruin get stored upright. Not the greatest, but it works for my current lack of display shelving.

I agree with the tissue paper, baggy, and bin, but again, I'd remove clothing and wrap that along with the doll. Magazine holders work well for dolls wrapped into little burritos and it holds a decent number. Nicest part is that it slides right onto a shelf and can be decorated to fit the shelf theme.

Large numbers of dolls, I'd invest in a nice long/shallow bin. Something that you can slide under the bed. That way you aren't burying dolls but it gives plenty of room.

I'd actually really like to know how they turn out, and if any of them fit. I've done a few searches to see if anyone has tried them, but can only find a few posts about dolls I'm not familiar with.

There are a few rather large lots on ebay for a decent price and if they work, I'd love to grab some.
Worst case I was thinking of attempting to modify a few of my girls' feet....

Hello, my name is Sam, but you can call me trash, gator, or possum.
I've only starting collecting MH & EAH dolls this past year, though I've had my share of Barbies throughout my childhood.

I got into collecting through the growing OOAK and customizer community on YouTube. When I started watching the MH webisodes, I fell even more in love with the dolls, which pretty much did me in forever.

My doll collection has grown past 100 ladies and gents, and I wouldn't be at all mad if it got a little bigger (though I'm sure my partner wouldn't appreciate it).







I've dabbled in wig making, reroots, and pattern making. I'm hoping to build up my confidence enough to start making my own customs soon. I have a few dolls prepared, and I have a few stored away that need a little love before they're ready for the shelf.

I'm excited to get to know others in the doll and customizer community and to make new friends!
