I've been told my handwriting is very bad, but i've seen worse than mine (in my opinion). :P I think most of the time it's legible, but it certainly doesn't look nice.

Sent a PM! :)

I've heard of at least one person filling the head itself with rubber bands. It would probably create less room for wobble.

I think mattel's quality control is slipping a bit--my electrified silvi had her legs fused together out of box and I had to cut them apart. I hope whatever happens that you'll have a nice clawdeen! :)

I love that toralei! Her hair is amazing and i love the little under-eye spots on her makeup! Also, I'm really happy that crimped hair seems to be making a comeback. I didn't appreciate it enough on my dolls when it was in vogue. :P

She'll definitely be my third reboot doll.

I found a freaky fusion operetta at Savers the other day. Unfortunately, one of her knees had been snapped off, but she was wearing her original dress, necklace, belt, and tights, so she was in good enough condition that I decided to pick her up anyway. I gave her a somewhat rag-tag knee replacement, but she displays pretty nicely with her tights on! :P

Monster Discussion / Re: How do you guys name your dolls?
« on: April 02, 2017, 08:10:38 PM »
For any character dolls like Disney or Monster High/EAH dolls, I usually call them their original name. I've done that with dolls since I was a child--it just felt weird for me to change their names if they have them already! I have an american girl doll in storage that I named "A.G." back when I was about 8 (A.G.....american girl. I was sooo creative :P)

I do name "nameless" dolls like barbie fashionistas or CAMs/doll hybrids, though. I named my witch CAM "Blair" and my Novi Star/MH hybrid "Ophelia". :P It depends on how i'm feeling at that moment, but I usually take ages to come up with something until it just pops into my head.

I'm trying to use this method I've seen on youtube with watercolor pencils/msc that my sister used on her customs, but I just....i hate the layering process. It's so tedious to wait between coats, and it's gotten to the point that my sister is tired of seeing the doll she bought for me to customize without a face and just started blushing it today. I wish I wasn't so impatient.

Also, I second the sewing. Doll-scale sewing is soooooo difficult.

The last doll I picked up was either a handless dawn of the dance clawdeen (she had arms...just not hands???) or my electrified silvi timberwolf. I think Silvi would look REALLY cool under black light!

I also got a TON of monster high/barbie clothes really cheap at the thrift store! I was pretty excited about that. I think I got 2-3 full outfits!

I've been smitten with re-ments since I was collecting figmas back in '09! I actually have three sets--one is a sanrio pompompurin furniture set, and the other two are miniature food items (my favorites)! They're the perfect scale for a lot of fashion dolls!

Monster Discussion / Re: Fashion Packs!

I didnt even know the second wave of fashion packs were released! I'll have to keep an eye out for them...none of the walmarts near me seem to have fashion packs, and only one TRU near me carries the first wave :\ no sign of the accessory packs either...maybe i'll order them later.

Just one? This is hard....

Probably New Hampshire. I really like what I've seen of the east coast, and I'd like to go somewhere new--my parents have been there, and they said it was beautiful. I need to get away from the city every once in a while.

Off Topic / Re: Can you recommend a decent Christmas candle?!
« on: October 27, 2016, 02:05:24 PM »
Cranberry Chutney by Yankee candle is one of the ones we use a lot in the late fall through winter, especially around the holidays--but that's mainly because we eat cranberry sauce on thanksgiving (USA) and sometimes on christmas. I'm quite partial to fruit scents in general since most others tend to aggravate my asthma, but you may like the ones that smell like cookies or whatever you may associate with christmas. :)

I voted summer, even though I spent a good part of my last summer inside :P

I'd spend more of it outside if I wasn't so delicious to mosquitoes--I seem to be a magnet to them. But I really like laying out in hammocks or beach cabanas and taking a nap in the middle of a hot day. My actual favorite time of year is May, followed by September--I like the transitions between summer and cooler seasons best.

Off Topic / Re: The "adult" coloring book craze: are you into it?
« on: October 27, 2016, 01:51:21 PM »
I have an "adult" coloring book, but I haven't touched it yet. There's so much intricate detail that I find myself trying to figure out good color schemes and end up doing...absolutely nothing. I guess it's just a weird fear of "messing it up" since adult coloring books are ridiculously pricey for what they are (usually like twice or thrice the price of a kid's coloring book). Also, I love cartoons, so I tend to like the ones intended for kids more.

I had a lot of fun coloring this horse into a rainbow zebra, even if it's a coloring page from an ice cream parlor intended for kids

I don't really color much on my own anymore, but I do occasionally meet up with a friend of mine, and we usually color some pictures together and get really crazy with it.

 a "silly" picture :P

I LOVE kitschy stuff. Things like vintage saltshakers or old mugs with pictures of garfield or "#1 grandma" and giant cement geese wearing dresses are endearing to me. I grew up on the weird area between suburbia and farmland in the midwest, and often would go along with my mother to discount stores since we weren't too well-off financially. So, seeing kitschy knick-knacks and tchotchkes gives me a feeling of nostalgia or joy at finding something absolutely hideous and cheesy :P

We have a small collection of solar dancers in our kitchen window, and a vintage troll doll that I gave my mother (Which she proudly displays in the bathroom facing the toilet, much to my chagrin) in our ridiculous 1950s pink bathroom. One of my favorite purchases is a half-naked, cheap plastic man straight from the 80s that my mom and I take turns hiding around the house like an elf on the shelf from hell  A framed puzzle of a fairy with a glowing crystal and all kinds of nonsense going on around her hangs proudly in my bedroom.

I dunno, I guess these things just make me smile because they elicit emotion from the viewer, be it amused admiration or abject horror at the tackiness of it all :P
