Monster Discussion / Re: Haunted Rochelle accessory question
« on: August 28, 2015, 09:59:02 AM »
Thanks everyone! Disappointed it doesn't have sand, but it's still cool, and Rochelle is gorgeous, so definitely going to have to get her when I find her.

Monster Discussion / Haunted Rochelle accessory question
« on: August 27, 2015, 07:37:25 AM »
I finally had time to look more closely at the Haunted dolls, and I noticed Rochelle has an hourglass. Now, my seven-year-old son is OBSESSED with hourglasses right now, so here is my question: can anyone tell me if the hourglass she comes with has sand in it that moves, or if it's just a plastic insert (or other fake out) that makes it look like it's full of sand? If there's sand in there, I *have* to have it. Otherwise, well, I'd really really like to still get her because she's gorgeous, but I can take my time and find a good online resource for sale or possibly a trade.

Totally blown away. I think the new Venus is going to be the one I hunt for. Something about the dress and her hair is just perfection. <3

Monster Discussion / Club Etheria "Early Access"
« on: July 26, 2014, 08:19:03 AM »
Gonna throw this out there in case someone else can help me here.

I'm a member of Club Etheria, and supposedly we get first shot at leftover MH (not sure about EAH?) SDCC exclusives before the general sale the following day. ("Early Access" for "Most Wanted" sale.) However, I had credit card problems (compromised card, forgot to call in the new numbers, blah blah, sorta fixed but not) that screwed up my order and I ended up losing some emails about how the whole thing is supposed to work. Has anyone else figured out how this is supposed to work? Or for that matter, did anyone do Club Eternia last year where they offered Early Access on post-SDCC merch to their members and remember how that worked? I know that the MH exclusive sold out on that day before the general public sale, but I'd given up my Club Eternia membership that year due to tight finances and missed out.

I'm also curious as to the limits per doll on these sales. I'm willing to max out my limit of dolls if I can get through the website and make orders, assuming I'm able to take advantage of the sale. Inevitably the date and time conflicts with my schedule, but I'm going to take a shot anyhow.

Anyone else know? Or just as confused as me?

Monster Discussion / Re: Who Else is Completely Overwhelmed?
« on: July 23, 2014, 07:06:23 AM »
Definitely overwhelmed here. I see monsters I want to purchase when I'm out at TRU or Target, but I can't bring myself to do it because I think of the ones I have at home that I haven't gotten to open/display/play with due to everything else going on in real life. (Um, kind of a hoarder right now and not proud of it. I might sell a few so I feel less guilty about the stack of dolls to open, but I don't just want to open them when I won't enjoy them.) Oddly it's my husband who encourages me to get dolls the most. We're both toy collectors and he understands the "get it while it's still on the shelf" idea because if you regret it later, it's a lot more expensive (if not nearly impossible) to get it afterwards. But a lot of what's out right now feels like it'll be around in another two or three months, when I'll finally have my kids in school and time for *me* so I can enjoy my dolls without tensing up that one of the kids will be a little too rough with them.

I have to hunt my Targets now! Damn you snow storm! I've wanted that lab since I saw it in the upcoming list, but couldn't justify the price. I did hunt the clearance aisles a couple nights ago, but the only thing I came away with was a $7.50 Catty Noir.

Monster Discussion / Re: does viperine come in her own case?

I got my Viperine a couple nights ago at Target, and there were two of her for me to choose from. I'd say that lines up with what everyone else is saying. I did not see her before Christmas, however... but I only saw Honey and Elissabat just once total before Christmas.

Monster Discussion / Re: Monster high collecting vs. friends/family
« on: December 15, 2013, 05:57:27 PM »
My husband bought me my first Monster High doll (Draculaura) a couple years ago as a Christmas present, obviously he's on board. He bought me Toralei last year (I think? can't keep my years straight), and I'm pretty sure he's gotten me a doll for Christmas this year. If not, it's not for lack of trying. He's gotten me a few other dolls here and there as birthday or anniversary presents, so yeah, no problem there. In return, I'll note I just bought his last Christmas present right now - a Lego Star Wars set that's about to be retired. We both collect toys, and we share them with our kids, who just generally accept whatever is around them and play with them. It's cool.

My parents and MIL know about the dolls but have never really commented on it. They've had 15 years to deal with my My Little Pony collection (well, much longer with my parents, in fairness) and have bought my ponies over time. If I really wanted something unusual, in theory I could ask them for it, but it's not necessary. My MIL would gladly get me a doll if she knew what I wanted, but she's rarely in a better position to find something than me. She collects Brio trains so she understands playing with toys well past childhood. My Dad doesn't totally understand it, but he understands the secondary collector market for toys and respects my collections for that reason alone.

I have no idea of what my sister thinks... she still has her Barbies and MLPs, so maybe she's cool about it. My brother scored me some ponies a couple years ago while thrifting so he's definitely cool.

So yeah, I guess I'm pretty lucky. I don't tend to keep my dolls on the first floor of our house where most people would see them, so it's not something I get many questions about. Most of my friends know I collect MLP and MH, and at least one of them is collecting MH in the guise of buying them for her nine-year-old niece.

Draculaura's Darkroom / Re: Haunt the Casbah

Thank you so much! I was on the fence about Abbey, but I will definitely go hunting her down now! I'm especially liking Draculaura's dress as well, so she'll probably be my first purchase.

Anyone got some nice out-of-box shots of these gals? If I've missed some pictures from other threads, by all means link me! I'm on the fence about buying them, but I know I'll cave if I find them on sale. :)

Monster Discussion / Re: How rare/expensive is the CAM Harpy pack?
« on: September 18, 2013, 02:10:16 PM »
I *just* got mine in the mail today from Wal-Mart:

I actually got an email saying it was out of stock yesterday, but it showed up on my doorstep this morning. So I'm confused, but pleased. Neither Harpy nor Siren ever showed up near me in Western PA, so it's not just you.

Introductions! / Delurking to say hello
« on: July 06, 2013, 01:38:23 PM »
Hello, I'm Eternity. I don't spend much time online these days thanks to having two cute but very time-consuming young kids, but Monster High has got its hooks in me like MLP did 15 years ago, so here I am. I don't know that I really have a favorite character - I tend to try to get at least one of every character in some form that I like. Usually signature, but there's always exceptions. In terms of my focus, it's mostly CAM and the more couture-designed doll outfits like Ghouls Rule, but I'm open to whatever I like.

That's about it. I'm looking forward to learning more about MH and especially seeing some of the very talented customizers show off their latest creations. :)
