Monster Discussion / Re: When you struggle justify buying dolls

I guess a mix of paranoia and a guilt complex the size of the moon just makes me approach buying things weird. You're probably right though.
Well my family has always giving me Chaff about my doll collection. (even my fiance sometimes.. hes never EVER allowed near a holiday barbie again after his preformance last year :EPIC EYEROLL: )
Either "its a waste of money rose." Or "your too old for that rosey".
OR my fave "What are you EVER gonna do with these things rose?".
But honestly.. My bills are paid.. Usually a month in advance... My house is PAID OFF.. its mine free and clear for the rest of my life.. all i hae to do is pay taxes.
i get out and do the responsible adult 8 hours a day thing.
Theres food in the house, water, electricity, So its really none of their beezwax.
However I Do understand how you feel.. people make you feel like your collection is a burden or that you should feel bad for collecting harmless lil bits of plastic.
My mom's father was great on this front, he gave my grand mom guff about her collection till the day she died.
Then when she was passed and he had no one to pick on he tried to start picking on me about mine.. I slammed the door in his face and told him to get lost.
So i totally under stand that sometimes you feel like you DO need to justify why you love them.
Truth is tho, if there's food on the table, the rent is paid, the lights are on, the car is paid and has gas, and you have running water, then what ever is left over is  YOURS to do with as you please.
no justification needed.
::HUGS::
So dont feel paranoid about it..you seem to be meeting all of the requirements of a functional adult.. so what ever else you do  is up to you.
I had to learn that the hard way.
I hope you feel better about :hugs more:
you have a right to enjoy what you love.

When you a disorder like ADHD as I do, it's easy to justify buying dolls...but for the wrong reasons.

I've noticed that I tend to focus on one specific doll line for a time, and become infatuated with it, studying them, reading, buying, etc.  Then after a year or 2, I lose interest and move on.   I am now trying not to be that way.

I just paid for my June AmiAmi order.
This month I'm getting Nendoroid Victor Nikiforov Coach ver., S.H. Figuarts Iron Spider, and my very first Cu-Poche (Miho Nishizumi)!! :squee:

Victoooooooor! Part of me regrets not getting YoI Nendos, but ... there is only so much room and I was holding out hope for Figmas (alas).

What annoys me about Beanie Boos is that they're just Ty trying to rip-off YooHoo and Friends -_- Heck, Aurora even sued them over it when the Beanie Boo line first came out. And now it seems like all the major plushie makers have their own YooHoo knockoff o.O I guess they're popular. Odd. I just wish there was a bit more variety out there, haha. YooHoos were fun *because* they were different, now it seems like every other plushie has those big ol' eyes.

(I admit some of the newer Beanie Boos are pretty cute, though. I prefer YooHoos in general, but still.)

When I was in elementary school, I was still living in Canada and my friends had this "special" club called the Big Eyed Stuffy Club. There were these stuffed animals out at the time (which I now know were produced by Russ and called Li'l Peepers, but we did not know as kids so we called them Big Eyed Stuffies) and you had to have one to be in the club. I always wanted one even before that, but as kids do for some reason, even more once my friends had this "exclusive" club. I got my first for Christmas and it was a pink hippo, many more followed suit and I had a small (and now gone :( ) collection of them, my fave was a bat.
This was in the very early 2000's, I'm unable to find a release date for them (I did a fair amount of searching to no avail) but I'm wondering if even Yoohoos were the first? If they still were, this has been going on for a lot longer than Beanie Boo's or any following plush lines, though. My first thought when I saw Beanie Boos was "Whoa hey TY is ripping off the Big Eyed Stuffies now??"
I have to admit I do adore a lot of the Beanie Boos, I have a small handful of cats and dragons from them. I think it may be because of the nostalgia with the Li'l Peepers, though, but they are quite adorable.
