« on: August 13, 2017, 11:46:34 AM »
I got this doll in a lot I bought on eBay

I thought she would be a great tool to use for my first ever custom/repaint
But I have no idea how to fix her leg , I need some ideas on how I can either make a new leg or ideas how to replace it , the plan I have for her is she is going to be a alien, she will have black hair, gold accents, as well as her outfit will be gold she is probably going to wear a bikini type outfit, please help I am open to suggestions:)

I'll try to look at some options tomorrow...

As promised….I took a look at my Bonita and some of my 'pink ghouls'….
Good luck! Post pics of what you end up doing with your Bonita!

I looked at:
Bonita - rerooted and modified/repainted neck, but original face-up and face color
CAM - cat and vampire
reboot Gigi (straight arms)
Kjersti (still in box)

My opinion:

Bonita is a pink that has a lot of blue/purple - almost a Pepto-Bismol type pink. I love her color, but it wasn't an exact match for any that I have.

The CAM vampire isn't even close, too pale. Gigi is OK, but she's got a more peachy/orange tone (in the reboot one I compared, an older one might be different?). The cat CAM is probably the closest, but again is more of a peachy-pinky color, without the blue/purple tones. Gigi's pink is more orangey than the cat CAM.

Kjersti is darker and also shimmery, from what I can tell - my Kjersti is currently still in-box.

So depending on what your preferences are, the cat CAM would be a little light and not an exact match but maybe OK. Kjersti is darker and also has the shimmer issue.

Here's a pic of Bonita and the cat CAM so you can see the best match I had in my house - pic taken outside in daylight but not direct sunlight:

Wow thank you for taking the time to do that for me :) I think I will try to find a cat cam and try it out see if it will work. :) thanks again !

Customs / Need help with a Bonita femur
« on: July 30, 2017, 10:41:17 PM »
In a past lot I bought from eBay and it included a Bonita femur body and I just packed her away but now I have a plan for her but I need to find a head for her I haven't been able to find any Bonita femur heads so I have been looking for a different head someone said the dracubecca was a match but her skin is to summery ... Gigi is close but , can anyone tell me how good a cat cam pink head matches? Or is it too pink ? Kjersti is pretty close match too but haven't found a head of hers too.

Hi, rawrhug!

Those pants in my Gooliope photo are handmade.  I'm actually in the process of drafting a printable version of my pants pattern that I'll be offering in my Etsy store.  And DGRequiem has a jeans pattern for 17" MH dolls in her Etsy store (https://www.etsy.com/listing/241721846/easy-t-shirt-and-pants-doll-clothes?ga_search_query=17%26quot%3B&ref=shop_items_search_2).
There are also quite a few sellers on Etsy who sell handmade pants for the 17" ghouls (https://www.etsy.com/search?q=pants%2017%22%20monster%20high).
Unfortunately, I have yet to find existing doll pants from another line that work for the 17" MH dolls.  At least not full-length pants. :(

As far as the shoes go:  MSD girls typically stand between 40cm and 45cm tall and have a foot length of 5cm to 5.5cm in length.  The vast majority of MSD girls' shoes are meant to fit that standard foot length.  You do see some variation in shoe size, but not a lot.
The 17" MH dolls have a foot length of 5cm.  When buying BJD shoes you'll see the inner length of the sole listed.  As long as the inner length is around 6cm, it's big enough for the FTGs. :)

I did a pretty thorough breakdown on what to look for in BJD shoes for the 17" ghouls in this thread: http://mharena.com/index.php/topic,13168.msg269914.html#msg269914

I hope that was helpful. :)

Very helpful. thank you so much ! I really like my gooliope and can't wait to figure out her look :) those pants looked great on your girl !

Shoes and pants are trickier, but a good starting point is the thread "What fits MH dolls" that's stickied.

http://mharena.com/index.php/topic,10685.msg231132.html#msg231132

Here's a photo thread for 17" redresses:

http://mharena.com/index.php/topic,8406.0.html

Yeah I checked that stuff out but still not a real direct answer for pants. Then for shoes, are all msd dolls the same size because someone posted msd dolls shoes fit but which size dolls , and no real answer about pants , but someone by the name SaelaVe posted a picture of her gooliope wearing some pants but I could no longer reply to that thread :( but they could possibly be custom made not to sure.

Clawdeen's Closet / Help with shoes and pants for mh 17" doll
« on: July 23, 2017, 01:29:07 PM »
Mainly looking for shoes and Been searching so hard around the net, but I am just not clear on what shoes can fit the 17" monster high dolls I just scored a gooliope from the thrift store and she's  naked from neck down and I am looking for shoes that will fit her. But on the net, you tube , and here I can't really find a good answer. Hope there is a place on the net that's easy to order the shoes I need? Then I really would like her to wear some pants , which pants will fit her? Also if there are any tutorials on how to make shoes or pants for these dolls please link me to those. Hope I can find some help. Thank you ! Rawr

Not sure how to "fix" Honey, I'm afraid. She was designed that way to give her a wobbly, marionette feel. Every one of the dolls from that release has the wiggly legs.

As for fixing Luna, are you looking to retain mobility? Or just fuse the leg into one piece? If the latter, you can use any glue that would fuse the plastic pieces (E-6000 for example), then cover the joint for extra stability with apoxie sculpt and paint it to match.

can i use hot glue to fix her leg?

TheStripeyCat documented her repair of a broken-legged Nefera a few years back.

oh ok i get it lol . just though it was loose from over play hehe, thanks for the info

yea i think the only option is to glue and she will just have a stiff leg. thank you for the suggestions.

As Honey is from the FdC line and is supposed to be a marionette, I heard her limbs are supposed to be loose.
oh ok make sense i just thought they were loose from over play . thank you

When I had a malfunction with a broken off leg, I just glued it back together. Doll still has her mobility, too. I think I used super glue.
oh that would be awesome if she had mobility still, thank you .

Just recently bought a mh doll lot on ebay and most the dolls need work. most i am not interested in helping , but one of the dolls i am she's the honey swamp doll from the freak du chic series and her knees are super wobbly , and was wondering if anyone has a solution on fixing that.

there is also another doll whose leg from the knee is totally off what is the best glue to attach it because there is no fixing the mechanism it looks like they tried but did not succeed and had just tapped her leg back on.
