I'm sorry about your Val, Tropical. It's annoying that even limited dolls get O_o faces.

Seconding this. That's the first time I've seen an SDCC exclusive with wonky eyes, guess Mattel is just dropping the ball all over the place...

Man, I've been so on the fence about getting this 2-pack. Keeping an eye on ebay, but after international shipping and with the current awful Canadian/American dollar exchange rate, even the cheaper sets come out SO expensive. Like CAD$125+ expensive  It's a lot of money that I can spend on other dolls I want a lot more. Not getting them still breaks my heart a little bit, though

However! It's a long shot, but if anyone is looking to sell just Valentine's outfit, hit me up :D

I wonder how many more years before we reach the Generation 2 point and designs start changing significantly. One of them, I dearly hope, is these enormous heads and eyes.

Same here.  This is the first wonky-eyed SDCC doll that I've ever seen.
I'm sorry, Tropical. :(

Thanks, ya'll.  :(  I'm so upset,  I can hardly stand to look at him. Whisp has the same problem but she still looks pretty nice to me.  I got Wydowna, Manny and Iris from third party sellers too and they all look fantastic.  If anyone wants Valentine for $40, let me know.

I think a little touch of paint could make Val look mischievous/skeptical instead of just kind wonky. Maybe a little brow ridge over the smaller eye, and redo the curve of his eyebrow to give it a note of sass. He could have a ton of attitude!

LOL yes, that might work.  That's actually along the lines of what I thought when I first saw him.  "Seriously?  They couldn't even arch his eyebrow?" XD

At this point I have 3 options:
1.  Sell him and get another one.
2.  Try and customize him to fix his eye (nightmare)
3.  Eyepatch!

I kind of hope my set ends with some eye wonk, simply because it doesn't bother me (like, at all) and it would mean one less person who is bothered by eye wonk won't be getting that set, but rather a different one. :I

If you get a good Val you could always trade with Tropical :P

Here he is.

Don't feel bad about the eye- mine's the same (I posted pics on the Brag thread).  His fancy outfit more than makes up for it for me.  ;)

Have you thought about getting one of the amazing repainters here on the board to take a try at giving him a makeover? An OOAC Valentine could be a better investment than just a regular ol' Val.  :)

I hope they look splendid when they arrive!

Same here! The tracking said it was supposed to arrive today but the last time the set was scanned was two days ago in San Diego. D:

Mine hasn't shipped yet, but it's from eBay. The seller has tons of good feedback, so I'm not worried.

At this point, I don't really know what to do.  I contacted Mattel and they said they'd give me $40 if I shipped the Whisp and Valentine back to them, but that they didn't have any in stock.  So instead of having a wonky Valentine and Whisp, I'd be out $60 (I paid $100 for the set through Toot's) and have no dolls to show for it... That's not going to happen.

The original plan was to sell Valentine and buy another online somewhere with better eyes but I don't see anyone selling him separately from Whisp at this point.  I don't know if I should just hold on to them both now or what...  :(
