Big girls' clothes and shoes (princess dress 03/17)
« on: May 04, 2014, 12:55:22 AM »
I almost finished making the basic pattern for big girl's body (Nefera, Clawdia, Bloodgood), I only need to tweak the sleeve. I used method described here, here and here.
That's the result.

Patterns for a very-very stretchy fabric with 1 seam and just stretchy fabric with side seams and a back seam.

And that's the Beyonce outfit pattern.

Note: always add seam allowance and place for velcro or snaps! These patterns are not made to overlap, I usually add 0.5 cm to one half of a back for a snap and 1 cm to another half. Than I fold that 1 cm in half. This way I have 0.5 cm from both halves that overlay and one half has a neat edge.
The test run.

But I don't have any ideas what to sew yet. I thought, maybe I could take step-by-step pics of how I turn this basic pattern in what I want and post them here, if anyone is interested. What design would you like to see created?

I read 'big girls' and thought you meant people  ;)

It looks great!  The big girls need clothes, and I don't know if they'll ever get pattern packs.

I don't have any girls with the big sister body, but it would still be cool to see your process!

Thanks everyone for the interest  ^.^

First, I decided to make a corset.
We take the pattern and cut off excess parts.

Then I closed breast darts (made cuts from top and moved pieces down)

Same with the back

The dart here is very inconvenient, because one side is more curvy, than the other. I measured the space between the two pieces (4mm),

drew the straight line from top to bottom, stepped 2 mm to each side and drew new dart (so that curvature is same from both sides)

Connected two pieces.
Glued the incomplete pattern to a piece of paper, folded it and traced the pattern

I wanted to make something from yellow satin for so long! Time to choose lace

I traced and cut out the pattern and treated the edges with fray block (the ad said it had precision tip, the ad lied).

Here's what I have by now

I'm also triyng to make a pattern for leggings. How's the fit?

Beautiful corset!
And thank you for doing the step by step pattern!
I might be able to practice a bit more in my skills to see if I can help Nefera, Bloodgood and Clawdia (if she ever gets here) to have more clothing options!

Thank you

I got some beautiful ribbons with golden threading and started a new dress :)

It will be a long flowing gown.

Lookin' good!  I'm loving all the new additions.

Thanks :)

It started as an easy flowing gown, but, as usual, it turns into a pretty time-consuming project :)

First time embroidering and of course I needed the metallic golden thread, which is knotty and not easy to deal with.
