I'm probably doing this wrong.

So I started doing a reroot of a LOL doll head. The hanks I got were long because they were meant for a Barbie or Monster High height doll so I decided I would cut it into shorter lengths. Big mistake as now the lengths are all uneven. I decided to try using it anyways in the hope that I can fix it when I trim it down. But I have one more issue with this plan. I'm following the original holes but the style I'm going for is drastically different from the original style.

I'm not sure if I should keep going or just pull it out and get a wig.

you'll have to make your own holes to achieve the style you're going for. So honestly it's up to you whether you want to go that route or just wig it. plus wigs like that have a little whorl at that top to make them hang right, so you'd have to add some sort of thatching to get a similar hang.
