help with body mods?
« on: November 14, 2018, 05:35:43 PM »
I'm looking on the best approach on taking a MH or EAH (probably EAH, for this project) and modding the body to be male. I want to make a set of twins, male and female, the same height.

This is how I'd go about it :) cutting the torso up into multiple pieces, then attaching them back together with armature wire, then epoxy sculpt so that you can add enough bulk to make it masculine. Making the arms and legs and a bit thicker, make the neck thicker, make the chest and torso broader, and make the line of the torso straighter and less femme/curved.

Any particular reason you don't wanna use the EAH Male body?

I'm trying to make Dipper and Mabel, who are definitely the same height, and very close to the same body type.
Plus i had hoped to possibly make Stan and Ford out of EAH bodies later (using that extra height)

That'll be cool :D You could also reduce their height a bit by cutting small lengths off their thighs and calves to make the height difference more noticeable.

Do they absolutely have to be EAH/MH?
For both bodies, you need to do a fair amount of work, is not just sanding off the boobs, but youll also need to reshape the ankles and the curve of the back, which would also make necessary to reshape the neck. I have made it before:

EAH has a bit less of a curve, but has much bigger hips.

For Dipper and Mabel specificaly, if you want them to be the most show accurate possible, I would recommend Strawberry Shortcake dollies, if articulation is not a problem.

If you want a more "teen" look, Strawberry Shortcake heads with male MH body for Dipper and a Disney Descendant girl, or a Liv body for Mabel.

EDIT: OH! The new(ish) Harry potter line might be a good option too! both boys(Harry and Ron) are about the same height of the girls (Hermione and Ginny) and a couple of Dumbledores could be used for Stan and Ford

Thanks for all the advice! I figured i would use EAH dolls, i should have specified. I figured whoever had the short variety (Maddie?) since the EAH indeed have straighter spines. I havent been worried about looking 'show accurate', more about making both of our sets of twins identical. Dipper has never been particularly masculine anyways, so i'm not crazy worried. And I want them as EAH/MH so they somewhat mesh with my collection.

I still think you can save yourself a lot of trouble if you go with the Harry Potter dolls: They are VERY similar to EAH

The guys aren't excesivelly masculine, and while they are a bit taller than the girls, you can shorten the torso, the legs, or make up the difference with Mabel's hair
