The Little Things You Might Have Forgotten
« on: March 19, 2018, 06:37:51 AM »
I can't quite remember how, but my sister and I wound up on the subject of Jackson and Holt, along with Jackson's diary.  The diaries had always been my favorite canon, and for a while, I held on to every one I came across.  Until she mentioned it, though, I had forgotten that Holt wrote in Jackson's diary, but Jackson didn't write in Holt's.  I always thought it was a cute little detail and a good way for the two to communicate when they otherwise cannot.

I started to wonder what other tiny tidbits there are that we forgot, or never noticed.  Or just ones you guys always liked.

I know I read somewhere that Draculaura had an uncle Vlad that was kind to her and was who practically raised her, while her dad (Dracula) was on business trips. And that his dad was very much like Ramses DeNile.
But now I can't find if that was diary, novels or my imagination. Any clues?

That's from the Lisi Harrison novels.  Uncle Vlad was described as sort of looking like Andy Warhol.

I discovered a while back that Count Fabulous is actually a vampire who is trapped in bat mode; this was in the doll guide Mattel published a couple of years ago and I don't think it was mentioned anywhere else.  It definitely puts a different spin on him being Draculaura's pet.
I make the dolls Mattel won't.

Edit: Kara Zor-El found it.  :)

Thank you! This means I'm not crazy!  :green:

It actually makes it creepy. I mean is like Ron discovering that Scabbers was Peter Pettigrew all along. Draculaura bathes with that bat!

Right?!  When I read that, it threw me for a loop.  No wonder that little factoid didn't make it into any other media...

So  I can't remember, does County Fabulous actually have a gender, or are we all assuming Fabulous is male because of the name?

He's a boy, Draculaura says so in the pet section of her profile.  I think her diaries mention it, too.  I never read the doll guide, so that is certainly an interesting fact!  Weird, but interesting!  Now I wonder how he got stuck that way.

Count Fabulous is male.  Draculaura just enjoys dressing him in bows and little pink sweaters.  Which is adorable, until were told hes actually a vampire trapped in bat form...

The book didn't say!  It's really a great book but it only touches the surface of stuff us hardcore fans would eat up for factoids.  Maybe someday Garrett will write a book about Monster High and its creation.

Aw, that's too bad!  I didn't know it had little things like this, I'm always up for learning tiny backstory details.

Oh, my gosh! That's so weird, but somehow intriguing! Now I want to read that book! Do you remember what is was called? It wasn't the Character Encyclopedia, was it?

That's the one!  You can even see the page that reveals it on Amazon's preview.

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

In other details, I wish we had found out who the mysterious character who helped rehabilitate Valentine (from his SDCC diary) was.  She seemed like she would possibly have been important, but she was never referenced again.

Sweet! Thanks so much! I'm going to be near a Barnes and Noble later today, so I'll see if they have this book.

I think the Count Fabulous thing might be a nod to the character of Salem from Sabrina: The Teenage Witch? Salem was a powerful warlock who tried to conquer the world, and was transformed into a cat as punishment. Then Sabrina and company just treat him like a pet cat, even though they know his whole story. XD

I also wished I knew more stuff about the builders. The entities that built the ancient constructions that conect the inside of the catacombs where Hexiciah and his exploring crew were stuck.
