SilkSpun reroots
« on: August 03, 2013, 09:17:00 PM »
Yay, I finally have some MH reroots finished to show off! ^.^

Operetta's done with brushed-and-straightened acrylic microfiber yarn, she sure took me a while. :dazed: I'll have her repainted soon, too!

Ghoulia's done with the same technique (brushed microfiber acrylic yarn), just not straightened - it makes the final result a lot like mohair, only it's vegan, yay! She'll be repainted soon, too, I want to go for a Victorian-esque zombie theme for her.

If you like those I AM open for microfiber reroot commissions! Basic straight styles (like operetta) are $65, and faux-mohair (like ghoulia) are $60. I can do regular or CAM heads, in most any color or color combo. I've got info on MLP reroot commissions here, too. Please note me if you're interested in anything! <3

Beautiful work!

And their faces are just so much more interesting without paint... I just can't put my finger on it but I really love Operetta that way.

They look beautiful!  Using yarn is a great idea to get that mohair look for less money.

I was wondering the same thing! The yarn I use never looks that nice after its brushed out! I may end up commissioning you soon!

Eee thanks for the nice replies everyone! <33 Sorry for the slow response, I was camping over the last two days, whee. ^.^

I'm not sure if it does, but the brand I use the most is Bernat Satin (just because my local craft shop stocks a ton of it, haha). Really any very soft 100% acrylic yarn will work fine, I'll use any brand that feels soft enough. The trick is to use a pet slicker brush, and brush very slowly and carefully, brushing each plug individually before rooting them. I have a tutorial on the MLP arena here.

@Cate_Dartfinger - Wow thanks! I'd love to reroot a doll that has your glass eyes in it someday maybe, I think the combo would look really awesome.
