Which doll would you recommend for kids?
« on: July 27, 2013, 04:53:43 PM »
I have a friend who is 9, going on 24, and she LOVES MH.
I have bought her the 2 dolls she has, Abbey & Lala.

If you had to recommend one of the MHD's to a small person, who would you point to?

Maybe Howleen or Twyla?  They are younger and have a more normal/realistic body shape.  :)

Agreed. They also seem more...sturdy?

I know when I were a kid I would have LOVED Howleen (I already do though, but... lol. the opinion still stands.  :P ) Her clothes are funky and awesome, she's younger-looking, that floppy ear is to die for, and her "RAR!" hand pose is great.

Depends more on what the kid's style is, though... Girly? Sporty? Punk-ish? Get a doll that kinda matches her personality!

Absolutely Howleen. She rocks. You can probably still find her Dance Class doll (with the bright pink hair and supposed "hip-hop" outfit that looks more like pyjamas). Her totally awesome 13 Wishes doll should be hitting our shelves in September.

I would say it depends on the kid - maybe there's a MH that would speak to her interests?  Catrine if she's into art, Clawdeen if she's into fashion design, Lagoona if she's into sports, Twyla if she's really shy, Howleen if she's a younger sister, etc.

My girls love Howleen and for some strange reason Spectra. All 3 of them have a version of her. They also each have a version of Lagoona.

My niece, she's four, loves Holween and Abby.  They are the ones she goes for every time she visits.

We don't have any of the werecats here in NZ yet, although we are supposedly getting them all at some point - the werecat fearleading pack, Catrine and even Catty, although she is going to be sold as a NZ$75 collector's item at Toyworld.

Venus (both signature and swim line dolls) is still readily available here, as well as Abbey's Picture Day doll. The only Spectra available here at the moment is the Ghouls Alive one, and they're priced rather high at NZ$60. We should hopefully get the Ghouls Night Out line soon, though, and then there will be another Spectra available at a more reasonable price.

We have the following CAM starter packs: werewolf/dragon, witch/cat, mummy/gorgon, and ice/blob. We also have the bee, siren and harpy add-ons. Toyworld also sells the lab add-ons but not the lab itself, oddly enough.

Kmart sells the starter packs cheapest at $50 each.

Aside from those already suggested, Frankie would also be another cool choice.  I don't know if you guys have the books there, but Frankie has a really great message for small girls, that it is OK to be different and be yourself.  Frankie also has visible scars, and overall there are many really nice versions of her, and there are several fashion packs for her specifically as well.  The idea of suggesting a doll that has similar personality traits as her is a really great idea because you share her the reason why you think the doll would be so perfect for her.

I love my DC Howleen, especially since I dressed her in the signature Howleen outfit.  I have not met a little girl yet that does not swoon over her  :).  Twyla is totally adorable.

Good luck and please let us know what you decide to recommend

I would ask her whats her favs. By the time a girl turns 9 years old they know that they have the same body parts as other people and its really not a big deal. I can only say that I think it is up to the Parents or Guardians what is best for the child. Every Kid is different with different needs.. My 8 year old has too many Needs
"Mom I need Spectras new bed!"
"Mom, Mom, I need to get another Gil so I can Play with one and leave on MIB."
"Mom I need The new Monster High Magazine, Im done with this one."
"Mom, I Need, I Need, I Need" Is what I should have named her lol. I hear, "I Need" about 15 times a day at least.
Looking for Dead tired Spectra! PM if you have one for sale!
