Kustom Dolls! Not another Galaxy Mermaid!!
« on: December 30, 2015, 09:49:41 PM »
This is my 3rd OC/Custom doll, and one of my faves!
Her name is Kitari Fox. She is a kitsune, Japanese fox god, quite mischievous and playful. I derived her name by mashing up Kitsune and Inari. Inari is a very powerful Kitsune.

She started out as Dance class Howleen.

Of course i just had to play with her hair a bit! ^_^

Here's the start of it, messy hair!

But it was fun to style!

Here she is!

If you can not see my pictures here is a link of the progress:

I am not sure why my pictures are not showing up in the preview. I know I used the image tags correctly... could it be the Flickr links?

Edited! I fixed it!

I think you might have to use photobucket...but I'm still fairly new to the forums, so I might be mistaken.

That reroot looks fantastic, by the way! What colours did you use?

Nope, any photo uploading site will do. The direct links to the image just go in an image tag {img}url{/img} with square brackets [ instead of the braces {
I think the problem here is that Flickr doesn't like to give the direct link- their "direct link" option isn't to the picture itself, but the page they host the picture on. The way I usually have to get a direct link from Flickr is click the html option, copy and paste the whole thing, and delete everything but the link itself (ending in .jpeg or whatever).

On topic, I love seeing Howleen's rerooted in natural colors! They look lovely on her! Excellent color choices!

Thank you! Yes, you got it! Even though she's a monster high doll, I figured why not give her a bit more realness to her? I love natural Fox colors and its something that I've never seen before. So I'm really pleased I did this.

I love Teen Wolf. I think that's where I got the idea. ;) Maybe you can share your OC with me? I'd love to know what you've done with your character.  :biggrin:

Thank you very much!  :biggrin: I like coming up with idea not many people have done before. Its getting more and more difficult with the way Mattel is. My Friend Kara Zor-El Had come up with a Golden Dragon Character and 1 year later Jinafire came out. Same with Elle Edee. I'm Really NOT found of that name, But she made one like that as well, at least 4 years prior.

I wouldn't try to to make gloves because they could end up like mittens. Either make arn warmers or paint the gloves on. Sorry Im not a big help there must be a pattern out there for a jump suit.

Requiem as a spandex superhero suit pattern, and I think she also has patterns with boleros/shrugs that could be useful

Mmn. Agreed.

Could probably do the armwarmers, then paint the hands black to fill in the "fingers" on the glove in the design. Less painting and worry about matching colours that way.

Thanks cat. I forgot about the gloves maybe I'll paint it. Or she could have with out gloves, since her powers.

Ravie, thanks I'll have to ask her for some advice.

Lhiannith, yeah. I love the idea of arm warmers.

I'm very excited to show you the end result!!

i second Requiem's spandex outfit. there are ways to alter the pattern a bit to get the design you want too.
can't wait to see. and love the colors you chose for your oc's hair. i'm a huge fan of teenwolf too. i'm a little ashamed to say i haven't started the new half season yet... i'm so nervous as to what might happen.

For gloves I'd get an extra pair of hands either from one of the EAH Hattastic dolls that have black gloves, or from Catty or Wydowna (although I think the HT dolls might be better because there if faint texture on the hands that make them seem more like black gloves than just black hands). Then you can swap between gloved hands (the HT ones) and non gloved hands (the hands already on the doll) so she could use her power whenever she needed to

That is genius~!!! Thanks!! Now all i have to do is find some hands.

If worse comes to worse, you can get them off the Mattel Customer Service site.
I make the dolls Mattel won't.

I'm very excited to show you, I repainted Spectra into my OC Vanissha, Daughter of the Invisible Woman. Although, I did make her uncle Mr. Where, MH's Drama teacher. I thought it was a nice tie-in. <3 Her colors are Red, White, and Blue, she's a very patriotic ghoul, and loves the spot light, being a famous actress, attention and goes to all the important parties! LOL (She's Paris Hilton in doll form, sans the acting bit.) :P

As a side note: I was very scared of doing re-paints and face-ups, this is the first time I've done this on a doll. :) it's not perfect... but I like it.

Vanissha repainted by Tori Underbridge, on Flickr

And now I just noticed I forgot her eyebrows....   ^^;
